I once had a pretty grand adventure as a newbie. I couldn't have been any higher than level 25, when I decided to go exploring! A friend of mine had shown me on his map where Ironforge was while I was over, and I thought, if he's been to such far-off places, why shouldn't I travel? So, being in Auberdine and not knowing where any of the boats go (Besides the one to Darnassus), I picked a boat and hopped on it. Unfortunately, I happened to pick the boat to Azuremyst... BEFORE BC had been released. I'm not sure if that was the cause, or if it was because I DC'd while on the boat, but when I got back on a few minutes later my character was in quite a predicament. Specifically, I had been teleported to UNDERNEATH the Stonetalon mountains. I immediately fell to my death. My spirit appeared at the graveyard in the middle of Stonetalon, and I looked at my map and discovered that my body was apparently at the base of Thunder Bluff. So, rather than Spirit Rezzing, I began the long run to my body. I eventually found the place and rezzed, then began exploring. I was quite nervous to be somewhere in the middle of "horde lands", especially since I didn't really understand PvP or the difference between being flagged and not being flagged, so I was afraid of being attacked by some high level horde. I made my way out into the Barrens and started heading North to try and get back into Ashenvale. I got there, only to find the gate between the Barrens and Ashenvale was guarded by high-level Horde guards! I wound up fleeing from one of them and getting safely away. I hadn't noticed the big, gaping whole in the fence off to the side, so I made my way back into the Barrens to try and find another way. I wandered throughout the Barrens and Durotar (missing the path by the side-entrance to Orgrimmar somehow) and so continued to be "stuck" in horde lands. I even stumbled across Ratchet, but not knowing any better, I assumed that they had to be horde, since this was a horde zone, so I never wandered close enough to realize they were neutral. After exploring most of Mulgore, the Barrens, and Durotar, I eventually wound up back at the gate between Ashenvale and the Barrens, and this time I noticed the hole and was able to get through safely. It was quite an exciting way to waste and afternoon for me, and the thrill and adventure of wandering through lands I'd never seen in a world I didn't fully understand has always stuck with me.
