I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this actually, but the future self quest is terrible if you're a caster. I died twice doing it because my future mage self didn't know how to do anything but wack the enemies with his staff, meaning my level 75ish butt had to solo them all by myself with no time to drink or eat in between fights!

Perhaps it's a self fulfilling prophecy.

You were so annoyed by the quest in the past because Future-You didn't help that when it came time to help Past-You to get some form of revenge on yourself you only used your staff and no spells to show how hard it is for the other you... in the process ensuring the events that will lead up to what you just did.

It becomes an eternal circle. Future-You uses no spells because when they were Past-You they didn't get any help from spells either.

Phew, time travel is confusing.
