Faction changes available in Europe
Since World of Warcraft's paid faction change service launched in the US at the beginning of the month, not a day has gone by when we have not received tips, questions, and complaints asking when the feature would be available in Europe. Well, European readers, the wait is over! So if you're eager to go from Gnome to Orc, all you need to do is head over to the account management page and be willing to pony up 25.00 Euros or 20.00 Pounds for the privilege. If you're the indecisive sort, remember you can only change your character's faction every 60 days -- but read the FAQ for full details. What the FAQ doesn't tell you, though, is that you should be prepared to lose your Argent Tournement standing if you make the jump -- so, to anyone jumping on the faction change bandwagon I hope you enjoy jousting!
However, if you're just wanting to change races within your current faction, this is not the service you're looking for. Blizzard has said they plan to make same-faction race changes available in the future and Ancilorn confirms this is the plan for Europe, as well.

I still want to change my undead in a Blood Elf but that means I need to switch 2 times and wait 60 days...Why dont they have that option?

After all zones get a stable working faction change system up and going, I think we can start expecting race changes.

Blizzard, 'you are not prepared' to handle the faction change requests.. my toon has been unavailable for 3 weeks pending my 'recent' request.

This worked a treat for me in the US. I started the process before going to sleep of moving a human paladin to belf, woke up the next morning and it was done. Easy peasy.
Also, while you don't get an equivalent number of flight paths it has surprisingly been fun for me to introduce my new hordie to some classic horde outposts!

Funny, I had the opposite experience. I faction changed my level 72 Druid, who at that point had only ever been to Borean Tundra and had a total of 3 flight paths.
After switching factions I had every flightpath in Northrend.

I'm trying to transfer my gnome to a tauren, but it keeps saying that he's currently logged in (i haven't been on him for the last 15 mins)
Valt Sep 17th 2009 2:33PM
It takes about 20-30 mins atlest did for me. Also you must have EMPTY mailbox. No NOTHING. No blank letters, no AH letters, no letters from NPC etc.
My warrior is going to horde. Atlast last dust from alliance is swiped away.

They've had that service available for nearly five years now...

There's a huge difference between race/faction change and class change:
Dynamics
While changing factions doesn't change the game dynamics, class changing does. Half of the lvl80's are already craptacular, wait till yousee what happens when a rogue becomes a mage or a non-bear tank becomes a resto druid. I already out-DPS the dps in my party while i'm tanking way too often, That would make such encounters become way more common then they already are.

I agree with daan.leijen
Not only that, every alt would turn into:
1) roll a DK
2) apply face to keyboard until you reach 80
3) become whatever class you want
