We taped our podcast a little early this week, on Wednesday night, and rather than having you wait all the way until Monday for it (not to mention that Pirates' Day will gone by then), we figured we'd post it up for you today). Matt "Matticus" Low was kind enough to join us (he writes the Spiritual Guidance and Raid Rx columns), and while Turpster was on a business trip, he did end up making it to provide us with his usual sparkling insight. We talked about that wacky 2v2 team rating and what it means for Blizzard's Arena system, the Abyssal Maw and what else we've heard about Cataclysm's dungeons and raids, and whether being in a guild really can calm you down (Matt, our only guildleader on the show, says no).
And as usual we answered your emails (including why Gamestop claims to know Cataclysm's release date) and chatted live with listeners, and you can listen to the show at any of the links below. Haven't subscribed to iTunes yet? Why not? Not only do you get the show automatically every week, but you can also leave us a rating and a review in iTunes, and we appreciate every single one. We'll be back a week from Saturday (on the 26th) at the usual time (and between you and me, we've got some nice guests planned for the next few shows, too!), so we'll see you then.

Just for the record, once you mail the Heirlooms the grace period to return them ends:
"Unless you've already mailed the item to another character, the level 80 character that you used to buy the heirloom can return it to the vendor for a refund within a two-hour grace period. (If you've mailed it to an alt already, though, you're out of luck. Sorry.)"
Say Mike and Crew.. Whatever happened to Karatechop and the whole Martinfury scandal. I've read the interview on wow.com, but nothing has come up about it since his ban which he was fighting.
Gamestop HAS to put some sort of date on a release but it's meaningless in terms on actual release date for Caty.
Why are we spending so much time talking about Caty when it's so far away? It sounds awesome and all but aren't there other content releases, changes, etc.. that are going to be made in much shorter order? All talk about Caty is conjecture anyway since even the devs/deisgners don't have anywhere near all the design done. DOn't get me wrong, I'm excited about it but if this level of hype goes on for a year+ it'll get old real fast, focus on something more near term.
Exactly what Mike said, concerning the faction transfer, but ...
"I made the decision AT THAT TIME [...]" Views, circumstances can change. Simple as that. If you wanna use the faction transfer? Fine. If you don't? Also fine.
I did use the faction transfer, but it was a kinda weird situation. I started my Death Knight (No. 2918273) as a Human. I'm kinda weird concerning what race/class combinations I play. I had a really hard time playing the Death Knight as any race other than Human, it was just my image of the Death Knight and I couldn't really enjoy it any other way. I started I think a dozen DKs and deleted them again at 61, 62, 63 etc.
So when they announced faction transfer I started my Death Knight as a Human, enjoyed the leveling, also because it was a new perspective, I had never leveled any Alliance character above lvl 23 or something.
It was interesting playing as the other side and making the experience that Horde got just as many jerks as Alliance has (I play on a PvP server). It kinda warped my "Alliance as stupid-ass gankers, assholes, everyone of them" to "there are stupid f*cks on both sides"..... for better or worse. Then when faction transfers hit I switched my DK to Orc and I don't regret a thing. I wanted a DK to play at lvl 80, but I couldn't level as a Horde race. So rather than never having a Death Knight now I do and I don't necessarily regret paying the 25Euros (other than the fact that the same week I had to spend another ~300Euros to replace a defective graphics card and a motherboard :/ )
i assume im souposed to comment here for the headset entry. as to the heriloom switching, why would you use your emblems to buy gear for your alts if you dont want to if you dont want them, its not a waste of your emblems its helping your characters
Hard to believe, but at least as of 40 minutes into a podcast in which the guest commentator was one of the most prominent bloggers on healing in the WoW universe, he'd been asked not a single question about healing in WoW. (The one thing that I heard that actually asked poor Matt for some tangential input on anything vaguely healing-related was when Mike invited him to riff on his "top 12 things I hate about being a priest" fluff post.)
I don't know statistically how many WoW players roll healers of one sort or another, but given that in any instance you run, one of the five (or 2-3 out of the ten, or 5-7 out of the 25) is a healer, there must be one or two out there. ;^} Personally, I was thrilled to hear that Matticus was on and eager to hear his insights into the state of healing in WoW, tips on what kind of UI he uses (especially given his new UI-focused blog), the state of the art in healing the current hard modes, etc etc - what a treasure trove!
By about the 40th minute, I was so ready to throw my iPod out the window of my car that I had to shut it off.
Guys, please, less chatter and gossip and maddening repetition, more actual *content*. And when you have a resource on your show to be treasured like Matt, respect his time (and ours) by actually tapping into his many insights. Especially given how dramatically all the healing classes - healadins in particular, but the others as well - have changed and how sadly out of date most of the class guides available online have become, it'd be incredibly valuable to go in depth with someone who really knows his stuff. For the many of us who don't have the time or energy to read Elitist Jerks or PlusHeals every day, it'd be a fantastic service to go through a rundown on the state of each healing class, and how to maximize each of them in hard-mode content.
One of the things I loved about the shows you used to have with BRK as a guest commentator is that I actually *learned* a lot about playing the game. Even though my only hunter is just level 29 and I rarely play him (too busy healing on my pally), BRK's insights and tips and vivid descriptions of how basic game mechanics actually work were incredibly useful, both when playing other DPS classes and just to help me know what the rest of my group is thinking about. I miss that kind of input on your show.
