WRUP: Drinking Pirates edition

There's not much that says "festivities" like a pirate drinking ale. At least, that seems to be the general WoW.com opinion on the matter. There's more than one or two of us who'll be knocking back a pint and donning our very best Arrrrrrrr! for the weekend.
While last weekend was a time for many of your intrepid reporters to hit DDO Unlimited, we're all returning home to check out Brewest and Pirate's Day. Really, I think it's the ale. It's a little bit of the inner dwarf coming out in all of us.
Well, except for Adam. He's going to be off having a real life and such. No Pirates for him!
- Adam Holisky: (@adamholisky) - The weekend began for me on Wednesday when we saw @thatkevinsmith in Minneapolis, and for the actual weekend we're going to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and catching one of the last Twins games in the Metrodome. As you can tell, this is a WoW free weekend. Why? Because I value my significant other and saying anything like "damn Resto Druids" or "OMGWTF? l2tank" would pretty much ensure that I'd be going to these events by myself next year.
- Alex Ziebart: (@aziebart) - I'll be doing Pirates and drinking as much as possible. With my small legion of gnomes, it will be difficult to not spend all weekend turning into tiny little swashbucklers.
- Allison Robert: Heroics and cursing the day that that miserable achievement School of Hard Knocks was added to the game, because it's the only thing standing between me and a violet proto-drake after Brewfest goes live. Do I sound bitter? I might sound bitter.
- C. Christian Moore: Tonight I'm taking the wife out on a nice date. She's been sick the past few days, hopefully she'll be over it today. I'll probably be writing a lot this weekend too.
In-game, I'm going to hit up Gnomestock on Saturday and continue leveling my mage. I'm also going to celebrate Pirates' Day with It came from the Blog. - Daniel Whitcomb: (@danielwhitcomb) - I'm gonna get my Pirate Day and my Brewfest on, for sure. My Death Knight needs to wait for Hallow's End to get his Protodrake though, alas, but he's still on track for it! Of course, part of me isn't sure I want to give up my awesome Blue Protodrake either.
- Dominic Hobbs: (@DMZduffry) -Brewfest! What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been! Violet Proto-Drake! ToC 25 man heroic.
- Eddie Carrington: (@Brigwyn) - Hi-ho! Hi-ho! It's a leveling I go! I'll be leveling up with my new guild.
- Gregg Reece: Brewfest, Fighting at Tavern Brawl (an SCA event), and then tanking an
Ulduar run. - Matt Low (@mattycus) - For me, it won't be WRUP. In fact, it will be WRUR! I picked up a copy of Dan Brown's latest book the Lost Symbol. I'll be heavily engaged with that over the weekend. Maybe I'll even write a small review of it. I can't wait to get started!
- Matthew Rossi (@matthewwrossi) - AV on the shaman in between bouts of sick
- Michael Gray (@writegray) - A pair of Guildmates of mine are getting married over the weekend, so I'll be stealthing around that event. Also, Death Knight.
- Robin Torres: (@cosmiclaurel) - Pirates and brew. Duh! I'll be at the It came from the Blog Pirates Day event, will you?
- Zach Yonzon: (@battlemasters) - Finally home from an extended trip that began with BlizzCon. I think that means I'll actually get to play some WoW this weekend, as well as actually get to freaking write! Also drawing some pretty cool things...

Someone care to explain Pirate's Day to me?
It seems absolutely pointless. A pirate lady who gives you a costume and 10 achi points...is that it?
May have missed more content due to mass ganking in BB.

Because tomorrow is actual Talk Like A Pirate Day and they wanted to do something but maybe couldn't get together a Big Event. It's kind of like the July 4 fireworks and the other stuff they kinda do but is not a big deal, I guess. At least we can get some points from it.

Pirate's Day is fun but in terms of an in-game event, it could have been so much more.
Ah well, Brewfest to look forward to.

Glad to hear that Zach is going to be able to get back to work on his Battlemaster comic. I didn't know he was still on his trip, I was starting to think he had given up on it.

Pirate's Day might have very little substance to it, but it's my favorite holiday simply because it acknowledges one of the more obscure and...well, awesome holidays ever invented. And really, it raises awareness of the holiday, so you're left with less people giving you weird looks when you say "Avast ye land lubbers, pour me a flagon of mead and find me the sauciest wench ye can find!" Talking like a pirate is good; talking like a pirate while others also talk like pirates is awesome.

OMG new Dan Brown book?!?!?!
I will be doing chores (laundry, etc.), dailies up the wazoo to get gold for my hunter's Northrend flight, heroics for badges for my alts leather chest heirloom, leveling aformentioned hunter to 80 via AV (then quest for all the gold!) and on Sunday my beloved Seattle Storm are in game 3 of the first round of WNBA playoffs...

Pirates and Brewfest and Lost Symbols (oh my)
Will be running, begging, cursing at WoW most likely for the stupid pet and helm drop for my achievement. Really. Held up by random loot.
Aah, Violet proto-drake. I can almost smell the purplyness.

I just went to Booty Bay to grab my 12 hr pirate costume, woot! I was looking all fancy and fearsome until I hearthed back to Dal. and jumped on my flying mount. My pirate costume went 'poof'. Have you ever seen a pirate cry? Well, you won't this time either 'cause I'm not one anymore. /sniffle
"This costume buff may be clicked off but persists through combat, mounting, death,
and so on." Blizzard

Hey guys not sure if this has been covered but it is possible to get this achievement without messing up your bloodsail rep(it will require death however). Pretty much all you do is fly to Booty Bay die right under the Capitan, once you are at the spirit resurrection go back to booy bay while dead, walk towards the captain and then resurrect your dead body right near the captain. While on the roof you can get another pirate outfit by talking to one of the friendly goblins. So talk to them they will turn you into a pirate then talk to the captain again and then bam, ya got yourself the achievement. more work but at least it can be done. Hope this helps any of the bloodsail's who may be reading.

I'll be working on the weekend. Tonight, after asking people for IDs in pirate speak, I'll be working on Brewfest since it'll be on by the time I get home. Grab some beers (lots of beers), play some WoW, and grab some wow-beers!

Now that summer breaks are over, my guild will be hitting 10 man ulduar in earnest.... fortunately we're well geared from numerous pugs and emblem gear
