For me, I always read the quests and stuff, but I've got an 80 warrior, warlock, priest, druid, rogue, plus high level dk and hunter, with a paladin and shaman at 10+. Leveling gets tedious after a while.
So yeah, I made a mage, I ran around to get the lunar festival dress for him. (Mages wearing dresses shoulda been on the list above!) In the process I dinged level 2. He's got a diamond tipped cane and a kirin tor tabard and hat. He's great!

I got a warlock, a mage is like a warlock that can't take care of himself.
Warlocks put out candy dishs at the party, mages serve coffee and pastries in the hopes that the big kids won't pick on him...
Sure you can give an intel buff, but so can my demondog, and he smells better. :)
