Around Azeroth: Mission improbable
Those of you who were impressed by the recent picture of Thrym at the Argent Tournament, prepare to have your minds blown. Yes, this is King Jokkum from Storm Peaks, dragged unceremoniously from his icy home to the mage trainers in Stormwind. And don't say Photoshop, because it's been done before. How did this even happen? Has someone decided that the quickest way to get to Exalted with Sons of Hodir is to hold their king hostage in exchange for reputation? Are disgruntled mages just randomly stealing NPCs away to their chambers? (Thanks to ML for the pic.)
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, gold seller ads with deadgnomes any race at all, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.

All I have to say is HOW?

Two days ago it was Thrym in the argent tournament and now it's King Jokkum in stormwind. The first was highly unlikely to be possible through simple kiting, and the second is outright impossible via kiting, although conceivably possible through some sort of glitch with mounts and portals. As someone else noted, theres even a person standing on a shelf in the image, which is also impossible.
Does anybody else suspect something funny is going on here? For example a private server or simply a GM temporarily spawning mobs in odd places and otherwise messing around with things for his own amusement? The GM himself could be the one submitting the images to wow.com for his 15 minutes of fame while using pseudonyms to protect himself from Blizzard retribution.

Uh, no. It was taken on a live server, EU Aerie Peak to be exact. I've got a whole bunch of screenshots and I uploaded a few here:

And by the way, its not impossible at all to get on the bookshelf, all you need to do is some clever jumping with the chandelier nearby.

If I had to guess I'd say mind control (or rather mind control cap) then port to SW.
For the record you can make yourself hostile to the Sons of Hodir. I've killed their king a few times for making me do those disgusting dailies for four weeks.

Technically, it's not the NPC (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=30105) in these two screenshots, but actually it is a the King Jokkum vehicle you ride on during http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=13010, you can even see it on the screenshots, on each of them you can make out a Gnome on the head of King Jokkum.
My best guess is that the players who took these screenshots used a Hearthstone or Portal or something to port to their home cities while they were using him as a vehicle for the quest.
Incidenty, there is no way to move mobs from one continent to another in WoW, they cannot take ships and will not go through player portals.

Actually, I just remembered how I once had it happen that I was moved somewhere random while still on a vehicle. It was when I was summoned using a meeting stone.
While it could have been done some other way that I am not aware of, one way to do this is to be summoned by a Warlock's summoning stone and while you are in the vehicle you just accept the summon, but remain in the vehicle for a bit after arriving at your new destination.

Okay, yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

sweet merciful heavens, HOW??
themightysven Sep 19th 2009 11:08AM
well, it may not be photoshopped, but it was definitely done with a computer
Treeston Sep 19th 2009 11:19AM
I see what you did there.
tmwise97 Sep 19th 2009 11:32AM
Did anyone notice the guy standing on the bookshelf on the far right?
Jason Sep 19th 2009 1:40PM
Just saw that because of your comment. That's...suspicious...

Epic is the only word to describe that. Even as a horde player I thought that was funny.
slyman.is.god Sep 19th 2009 3:20PM
