Brewfest 2009: Coren Direbrew's new level 80 loot revealed

Let's take a look at his loot, both old and new.
Badge Trinkets
As last year, Coren's main loot is a set of trinkets that are clones of existing badge trinkets with new, Brewfest related names. If you're a new 80 who wants to save up their badges for tier gear, these are perfect for you. Even veterans who've been meaning to pick up some off spec gear should like them. As a warning, the procs from these and their badge counterparts will not stack with each other, although the equipped bonuses will, if you're short on good trinkets. Here's the rundown:
- For physical DPS, there's Coren's Chromium Coaster, which is a clone of the Mirror of Truth.
- Spell casters can grab the Mithril Pocketwatch, which is a clone of Sundial of the Exiled.
- Poor healers are stuck with an Ancient Pickled Egg of all things, which probably smells a sight worse than the Egg of Mortal Essence.
- Tanks get a Brawler's Souvenir, which is a clone of the Valor Medal of the First War. Interestingly enough, there's an exception here in that these two trinkets' cool downs can stack with each other. I'd expect that to get fixed though. Then again, I know I won't be stacking them any time soon, since my trinkets still provide a pretty large part of my defense skill.
There's a few old favorites from last year taking a return as well. You can, of course, still get Direbrew's Remote as well as the Swift Brewfest Ram and Great Brewfest Kodo. Both factions can still get both mounts, and I'm hearing purely anecdotal evidence that they're dropping at pretty good rate this year.
The Barmaids are back this year as well with new level 80 trinkets: The Bitter Balebrew Charm and the Bubbling Brightbrew Charm. The 170 stamina alone makes them pretty nice, but who can resist having their very own Voluptuous Brewmaiden at their beck and call? I know you'll see me in BRD every day until I get my hands on one. As it is the Bubbling Brightbrew Charm will probably beat out the Essence of Gossamer for newbie tanks.
One more item for your approval: The Direbrew Shanker 2.0. Despite the unoriginal name, you probably shouldn't underestimate this dagger. It packs a pretty big wallop for its ilevel. Of course, it also looks like a broken bottle, so you should totally feel free to steal it from Rogues for RP. Totally.
No matter what you want to get your hands on, though, you only have around 2 weeks, so you'd best get cracking. We'll see you at the Grim Guzzler!

So I just sold a Darkmoon trinket for 10g that originally cost me 1800g for a Direbrew trinket that I just now find out doesn't stack with my existing emblem trinket? WTF BLIZZARD!!!!! YOU CAN"T PUT A LOUSY ONE SENTENCE TOOLTIP SAYING THAT IT DOESN"T STACK WITH SIMILAR TRINKET EFFECTS?????? YOU OWE ME 1790G!!!!!!!!
The only reason i sold the Darkmoon trinket is because they're all the same item level and neither the emblem trinket nor direbrew trinkets are sellable (which is totally retarded to begin with, BLIZZARD. Nothing should be unsellable.)

You forgot the Direbrew's Shanker 2.0, dream dagger for all non-raiding Mutilate rogues out there. Shame on you, wow.com.
Lemons Sep 20th 2009 8:57PM
Wtf was this downrated? It's entirely true.
"OMG he said "shame on you" to wow.com! Downrate that shit!"
Give me a break -.-
Superthrust Sep 20th 2009 10:12PM
Why was lemons downrated...He was pointing out a FACT...
So, is that what causes posts to be downrated? Facts?! WoW.com, please do something about your "voting" system...
Zanathos Sep 21st 2009 12:52AM
Unfortunately the problem with the voting system is that it relies on the human element, there's nothing they can do to fix it when the problem is people.

@Superthurst
WTF are you? The Defender of Down-rated Comments? I swear, half of your comments are not on the topic at all and are just trying to defend people that are being down-rated, and then a cry out to WoW.com to fix their rating system. I have said it before and I will say it again, IT IS PEOPLES OPINION TO DOWN-RATE! It's not like one guy can come in and black out your comment if he doesn't like what you said, it has to be a collective effort. Honestly, I wish one guy could black out a whole comment by himself, so no one would have to read your crap comments QQ'ing for other people who got down-rated then complaining about the commenting system. STFU.

It was downrated, because even if wow.com missed something, you don't need to be condescending about it.
There's a good amount of information in this post, it isn't surprising that they would miss an item.

Ran it 10 times today (Pally and DK). Saw the remote once, egg about 5 times, only one stam trinket.... not bad but hoping to see the mount this year. Ran it every day last year with a 5 summon group. Never saw a mount drop period.
Dragoest Sep 21st 2009 8:37AM
on day one i ran this 15 times... saw just about everything drop.. I saw the ram drop twice ! and two motes droped as well.. will be doing this again tomarrow as well.

Time for some 'fun' with math! Based on Allakhazam and Thottbot (Wowhead didn't have enough data to be reliable) The mounts seems to drop about 1.5% of the time. Divide that by 5 since everyone is going to be rolling, and on a single kill you only have a 0.3% chance of winning the mount.
If you run the instance 75 times (15 days * 5 attempts per day), there's only a 20% chance of winning a mount by the end. The math for that is a little uglier, it's (1 - (1 - 0.003)^75)
If that math deosn't make sense to you, look at an example that's easier to wrap your mind around: if you flip a coin there's a 50% chance of getting heads (1 - (1 - .5)^1). If you flip it twice there's a 75% chance that you've gotten heads at least once (1 - (1 - .5)^2). If you flip it three times there's an 87.5% chance that you've gotten heads at least once (1 - (1 - .5)^3).

Not to throw a wrench in you system analysis here, but something you can't calculate is the number of people who have the mount already but still running the instance for something else. Half of my toons have it already, so if you run with me, your chances are greater!
Erikamel Sep 20th 2009 8:17PM
I haven't seen it yet, but what about the Direbrew's Shanker 2.0?
Erikamel Sep 20th 2009 8:22PM
Blah, don't mind me ><
Hurray Brewfest!!
shendrickson79 Sep 21st 2009 3:47PM
the shanker is hot! it dropped on our second time killing him. I got lucky running with a group of plate wearers who didnt need or want it. Im hoping to get a second one so i can run around with matching broken bottles in WG

I'll definitely be aiming to get the Ancient Pickled Egg, as one of my resto trinkets is still a quest blue and I haven't wanted to drop the emblems for the Egg of Mortal Essence.
And of course a mount would be mighty sweet.
Morighan Sep 20th 2009 8:42PM
Ran it five times last night (ie, one full group). Had the Healer complain that I wasn't taking damage so he switched to DPS.
We had both the stam trinkets drop (whoot! Replaced my dodge trinket from Ignus and my stam one from ToC), one of them dropped twice, the dodge trinket, and the crit & spelldamage one (very happy mage from that one).
No mounts or remotes, but it's early days yet :)
Morighan Sep 20th 2009 8:44PM
Ouch. I really should proofread & punctuate better
Joyous_Oblivion Sep 21st 2009 11:50AM
You replaced the ToC trinket with this one? Guessing you're still a new tank...
Dakayonnano- Sisters of Elune Sep 20th 2009 8:45PM
Only the mounts are usable by under 80s? =(
Rin Sep 20th 2009 9:50PM
All seasonal bosses are aimed at level-capped characters. Get your butt to 80 if you want to join in!
