Patch 3.2.2: Heirlooms to grant XP bonus in Battlegrounds

So let's lay it out real simple for everyone, courtesy of what Zarhym said in a series of posts over the weekend:
- Heirloom items currently do not provide an XP bonus in Battlegrounds.
- Heirloom items should provide an XP bonus in Battlegrounds in Patch 3.2.2.
The confusion of Heirloom's XP powers while in Battlegrounds is likely a result of the newness of the XP gains you can get in Battlegrounds. Eventually all that confusion will go away, and Zarhym's clear statements this weekend certainly helped with that.
2n - 1 go left, 2n go right. I don't see enough DoTs! More DoTs now! Are you ready for the return of Onyxia? With the Brood Mother being revitalized as a 10 and 25 person raid, you'll need to be sure you know everything that's coming at you. WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.2.2 will make sure your set for the next patch!

Sweet more reason to level my paladin up. :P

By Blizzard announcing this change it makes me think Patch 3.2.2 is coming Tuesday because otherwise this would just be hotfixed right now.

can't wait, only problem is that my gear will pretty much suck since I leveled from 73 to 80 in AV... well good thing it's only an alt :)
Rob Sep 20th 2009 7:17PM
Yeah that's true, plus you'll be far broker than the guy doing quests. But it's at least different from doing dragonblight for the 5th time.
Kakistocracy Sep 20th 2009 7:21PM
yeah, my fourth 80 did the last three levels in AV. It was a nice break from the same old questions, but it set back the professions a bit. Money isn't much of an issue at that point, but there are a few quest items it would have been nice to get.

Technically Rob, he'd be richer. If he levels up solely through AV from 70-80, then goes back and completes the quests he'd normally would of done while leveling, he'd have the benefit of selling any gear gained (that isn't an upgrade) and the exp he would of gotten converted into gold. So while at first he'd be off, as he did the quests he'd easily make more than we did normally.

Also you can get pvp gear so its not like you'll be that under geared unless you wanted to go tank....

how does the Xp in BG work?
Moonkinmaniac Sep 20th 2009 6:28PM
You get xp for objectives, taking flags, bases, killing other players. Its not quite as fast as questing depending on the circumstance, but its a lot less boring.
Kia Sep 20th 2009 7:18PM
Not quite as fast as questing? -Really-? My girlfriend went from 77-78 in about the span of 35-40 minutes last night from nothing but AV.
soatari Sep 20th 2009 10:08PM
@Kia:
Why was that voted down? It's true. I went from 78 to 80 on my shaman in the span of about seven hours of total playtime from just AV.

Clarification... you get XP in BG's when someone... ANYONE caps a tower, caps a flag, etc.
It's not just the person doing it... thank god... otherwise there would be so many more flag hogs i think I'd puke...
(btw drood FTW in WSG =D )

I know people love getting XP from battlegrounds, and leveling up in BG's seems to be very viable these days. However, can we please have an 80-only bracket for AV? With all the low level toons running around, it's like walking into a daycare with a loaded shotgun.
Xavs Sep 20th 2009 6:39PM
You know, that sounds amazingly fun.
Rob Sep 20th 2009 7:16PM
Absolutely agree, the gear/level disparity makes it so that you only have say 5 guys who just can't be killed by the rest of the raid put together. Just as its not fun for 80s to see level 71s being worthless (which isn't always true), it's not fun for 71s to try and take on 80s.
However remember that if your raid group is full of leveling toons, then you can count on the other side having the same issue. So the levelers can kill each other while the BG pros do there stuff.

Simple answer:
No.
Whether it was level 51's trying to get their trinket and get themselves a little XP or 69's trying to grind out a ton of honor wo they could have a full season 2 set when they hit 70, the top of the game has always had to deal with the shallower end of the level pool in Alterac.
Other BGs: x0-x9
Alterac Vally :x1-x0

AV is actually active right now with the lowbies filling out the battles. For a long time in early 2009, AV was dead on the Ruin battlegroup for Horde. I'd queue at peak hours and end up in groups of 25-30 vs 40 Alliance. Now I know that I can play an AV whenever I want.
However, it seems that the number of cave dwellers has increased with the implementation of XP gain in the battlegrounds. Implementing the additional XP gain with heirloom gear, I fear, will only increase the number of AFKavers.
Domandred Sep 20th 2009 6:21PM
They'll ninja nerf AV experience at the same time so even with both exp heirlooms it will still be slower than what it is now.
