Brewfest 2009: New piece of Direbrew loot enabled

A new piece of loot has shown up on the live realms today -- one that has all the servers abuzz. For the intrepid adventurers fighting off Coren Direbew they might be rewarded with a Bind on Equip 1H Mace that every budding Enhancement Shaman will want to get their claws on.
The mace is an iLevel 226 item and has a DPS output of 171.5 -- making it on par with the very best 1H weapons out of 25-man Naxx. Full stats are in the picture above.
It looks like, well, a tankard. Just like the other glasses that are in the game. I don't necessarily get why it's "O' Terror," that would sound like it belongs more with the upcoming Hallow's End than Brewfest, but that's just me. Either way it's quite a nice mace that's going to make a lot of Enhancement Shamans happy.
It can also make your wallet a little fatter if you're lucky enough to get it (it does have a low drop rate). They're selling for between 4k to 5k gold. I would suspect that'll decrease substantially in the next few days however. If you really want it and don't want to spend that kind of gold, Brewfest is running for a while still -- you'll have until October 3rd to get your hands on one.

First one on my server was going for 15k on the AH.
I chuckled

Wait a couple months - say until November - when it is no longer available and that price will actually be valid.

Er...I think you mean INtrepid (though really, even trepid adventurers could beat up Coren just fine).

I saw one person getting offers for 1.5k early in the day, not sure if he sold it that low. Later in the day I acquired one myself. There are two on the auction house for 5k last time I checked. Should I sell mine now, or wait till after Brewfest?
Azbulldog Sep 21st 2009 11:44PM
Price has now dropped to 2000g through 4000g on the auction house. Hm.

Also a good MH weapon for combat rogues as well. Basically a Calamity's Grasp with a some stats reallocated.

I want this oh so bad for my Enh Shammy.

Dropped for us tonight. It's an extra drop in addition to his regular loot . In other words, you see 2 items in the loot window.

I got super lucky tonight, it dropped for my enhancement shaman and she was the only one who needed it. Now what are the odds of getting a second one...
Also, the shanker dropped off the same kill, but no one wanted it.

It seems that the odds are low. So far I haven't seen any on the AH on my server, nor have I heard anyone bragging about getting one.

I got this tonight and didn't remember seeing it on the original loot table you guys posted. I hope i get another tomorrow. This might kind of a neat gimmick to DW with in solo.

My group was surprised when we had this drop today, as we didn't know it was hot fixed into the game. We were more surprised to see it was BOE. We had two drop, so both shamans in our group we're very happy, one of those shamans being me! :)
Alchemistmerlin Sep 21st 2009 11:52PM
Wow if I had known it was selling for that much I wouldn't have equipped it.
Though, as an Enh. Shammy, it probably would have been irresponsible of me to sell it rather than equipping it over Greed.

If I see any fellow rogues using this, I'll kill them.
I don't care how badass it looks! It's a mace! Don't you remember what Lonika Stillblade taught us?
Claim it's an upgrade, then sell it. *nods* That's the rogue way.

Actually, MH Mace/OH Dagger is apparently the best setup with BiS gear, at least until the ArPen nerf. In any case, 171 dps is 171 dps - if you don't have anything comparable for a MH and you want to go Combat, by all means.
Ermac Sep 22nd 2009 5:18AM
Yeah the ivl 258 mace from the 25 man hard Tribute chest, something 90% of the population will see.
With other maces...meh not really worth it.
dawneb Sep 22nd 2009 9:59AM
Assuming your lucky enough to have good weapon drops.
My rogues main spec is CQC and have not had one good weapon drop outside of 10Nax, (crimson steel & murder). My maces offspec has been active for a very long time and you Will see me using this over Aledar's Battlestar along with Bloodcrush Cudgel. =P
I won't pass up on a dps upgrade just because someone thinks rogues shouldn't use maces.
Banndit Sep 22nd 2009 12:47PM
Dropped for us last night, the rogue and shaman rolled need. Rogue got it. 5 mins later he was in trade selling it.
Naybr Sep 22nd 2009 12:07AM
Judging by the title and model this seems to be the sequel to the classic world drop mace Mug O' Hurt.
Ji Sep 22nd 2009 12:02AM
I'm horde, who cares what a Nelf thinks?
If it kills them, it's good.
