[Updated] No Wolpertinger and Pink Elekk quests for Europe

We usually think that the U.S. is more prudish about these kinds of non-violent topics than Europe, but obviously that is not the case here. Personally, I think these quests are pretty innocuous and the near blindness you get when you get hammered in-game isn't exactly encouraging young drunkenness. But I do see how some would disagree with me.
We are researching this, but in the meantime, do you know which region(s) are causing the removal of these Brewfest quests from Europe?
Update: Wednesday morning before the restart, many people were able to do these quests. But after the restart, the quests disappeared again as intended. It looks as though those who did the quests were able to keep their tokens.

I want your 40 tokens, and my 40 tokens.
But I'll settle for my 40 tokens.

I just became so instantly angry...

Euros have a problem with drinking?
Oh right that ruddy complexion must be from the weather.
Glaras Sep 22nd 2009 4:08PM
Had it been intercourse rather than inebriation that caused the desired condition to complete the quest, it would have been the other way around, I think.
Glaras Sep 22nd 2009 4:09PM
That is, Europe would have allowed it, while it would have been squelched in the US.

I fear whatever holiday would have intercourse as part of their achievements for several reasons, not the least of which would be the title you would get upon completing all of the achievements.
What a long, strange trip it's been, indeed...
DigitalMonitor Sep 22nd 2009 5:16PM
Of course the holiday would be "The First of May".

More importantly, the Pink Elekk quest gave us all 40 tokens... Hopefully the Europeans have the ability to get more than 40-50 tokens a day.
Alanid Sep 22nd 2009 4:41PM
Nope. I can only get 40-45 tokens a day. Way to go blizz for not adding replacement for EU.
Beldoro Sep 22nd 2009 5:00PM
You realise it is not a daily right? The 40 tokens US players get from this is such a minor gain. Reading the EU forums linked above is quite astonishing - who are some of these people complaining and what kind of miserable, selfish, demanding lives do they live?
Some choice quotes:
- certanly the quests we do have should give more tokens, to compensate for this? Otherwise its just unfair
- refund should be mandatory
- Thanks for screwing brew-fest for us.
- that's descrimination, which is illegal. u owe EU players some sort of compensation for that...
- Its really unbalanced and unfair.
- I feel like a second class citizen as a European when it comes to Blizzard actually caring about us. It sucks.
- thats stupid treating us like that...Find a way to cover the loss of that tokens
Again, its 40 tokens we are talking about - not the deletion of your toon or the cancellation of 3.2.2. All Blizzard has done is modify the game to adhere to local laws. I don't know why I am suprised, the forums as a whole are such a pit of despair, full of nobodies who are after a bit of useless e-fame.
(As an aside, I am a brit living in Canada playing on US servers, so no real bias in this situation)

The problem is that 40 tokens outside of dailies CAN be a big deal. For people who can't play all days it can be the difference of getting the purple proto-drake this year. For people like me it's a one day delay on when I get it. If nothing else it's a big irritation, especially for people like me who GOT the quest, DID the quest and now can't turn it in. That's very very annoying, even if it doesn't threaten my life or health in any way and is just 40 imaginary tokens in a game...and brewfest should be fun, not irritating.
Mullen Sep 22nd 2009 4:09PM
Honestly, I am surprised that Brewfest is even in the game in the first place. A drinking festival for a game who has a large demographic that is under 18?!
What's next? In game Burningman Festival with naked Elves and an achievement for running around "The Man" while on a hallucinogenic?
Mookow Sep 22nd 2009 4:12PM
Food for thought...
(or maybe draught for thought)
the drinking age in the USA is 21.
Xcalibeer Sep 22nd 2009 4:13PM
I'm in.

(mouth drops open in amazement at the idea)
Hi, I'm starting a petition to get the recently proposed "Burningman Festival" into World of Warcraft.
Teni Sep 22nd 2009 4:23PM
We already *have* an homage to Burning Man in the form of the Wickerman event during Hallow's End.
Astalnar Sep 23rd 2009 4:06PM
Come on, dont say you dont know from where Blizz took Brewest from !?!?!
Oktoberfest in Germany. That is bigest drinking festivitie I think on whole planet (might be wrong).
If you are looking for country who doesnt allow getting drunk to see eleks, well just look at the countries in europe who do not support recruit a friend sistem. When I tried to do that with friend, we got answer from GM that law is our country is does not allow it...
Kajira Sep 22nd 2009 5:08PM
First, considering the rating and ToS, that "large demographic that is under 18" shouldn't be playing. Yes, 12 year olds play. No, they shouldn't.
Secondly, we do a LOT of adult things in this game. For someone to complain about drinking instead of the assassinations, murders, espionage and thefts is absurd.
Lastly, to ban brewfest but not all the OTHER forms of alchohol available (and even player-manufactured) in the game, is just a pissy little move.
i'm hoping that Blizzard gives a 5-token boost or so to every other Brewfest quest on European servers, to help compensate. And that they have other ways to get the Wolpertinger this year.
