TurpsterDoubleVision: Mounting Your Squire
We can't believe it either – Turpster has been let loose on WoW.com to bring you videos from in and around the World of Warcraft! You've heard him on the WoW Insider Show, and now see him on TurpsterVision right here on WoW.com.
Drinking alcohol might make you feel big, but you wont be clever! Don't do drugs kids! Now I've got that out of the way, I can leave you all to enjoy the video and to get in game and complete the achievements. If you need any help then make sure you check out Allison Robert's fantastic guide on the Brewfest 2009 achievements!
Also, as some of the less filthy minded of you out there might have guessed from the title, this week's TurpsterVision features the Argent Tournament reward and the achievement of Pony Up! And I have it on fairly good word that this is indeed THE Pony that Ghostcrawler promised us -- well at least that is how I am treating it in-game (RP ftw!).
Check out more of Turpster's work, from his WoW parody songs to TV previously on Massively.com, not forgetting everyone's favorite podcast 'The WoW Insider Show' and of course, TurpsterVision right here on WoW.com!Filed under: Features, Guides, Mounts, TurpsterVision

Did he say 60-80 tokens possible from the keg run, but he usually only gets 18-20? Am I hearing that right? How in the world?
Lemons Sep 23rd 2009 2:52AM
I think he's referring to a "perfect run" from the brewfest wowwiki article that claims it's possible to do a 35 second run and thus if you do every run in that time you'd be able to make 42 runs in the allotted 4 minutes and thus get 84 tokens.
The reason he's only getting about 20 tokens is because he's going all the way back to the beginning barrel (the one in the ram pen). A better way would be to ignore that barrel entirely, do a 180 after you drop off your keg, and just head back to the second barrel as it is entirely possible to do so without exhausting your ram. That alone would save him about 4-6 seconds per run.

I think my shock is more from the alliance/horde disparity, now that i've investigated. The distance between the keg tosser and the goal is longer for horde, and so the 35 second run is pretty much impossible. I've managed 24 tokens (12 laps) only once on horde, with no screw ups, yet when I logged onto an alliance toon to test it out I easily got 40 tokens on my very first run.

He also said run full speed the entire time. Well, I have not found a way to do that. The ram gets exhausted, and I spend precious seconds walking.
Is it not more efficient to cantor the entire time than gallop, walk, gallop?
Malkavos Sep 22nd 2009 6:14PM
If you're talking about the keg run, he's right, you should definitely be galloping. Hit the apple barrels to refresh your ram and keep from getting the exhausted ram debuff. There are enough barrels to keep you at full speed the entire time, and I do routinely get 18 or even 20 tokens. I'm just skeptical that many more than that is possible, at least on the horde side.

DOH,
/facepalm
I did not know about the Apple Barrel refresh!
Thank you SO MUCH!
Ishkate Sep 22nd 2009 6:34PM
What's being missed in the video - ram is shown going into the tent by the pickup folks to get the barrel refresh on that end, which isn't actually required. If you turn around as soon as you toss the kegl to Pol, you'll get back to the apple barrel on the far side of the bridge before exhaustion sets in. Same thing on the end where you actually get the keg... the two end apple barrels don't need to be used, unless server lag causes you to miss one of the mid-course barrels.
Ultraperson Sep 23rd 2009 5:45PM
you don't even have to hit the barrel, just run past it. but try make sure ur close to it

Low blow to the mages, I LOVE IT. And I know stressed...my time is limited and I want my Violet Proto Drake >
alwaypwns Sep 22nd 2009 6:22PM
It's not a low blow, any mage will tell you that we drink way to much, especially while leveling. You don't know the definition of drinking problem until you have leveled a mage. As someone on the WoW forums said:
Leveling a mage is like going to an irish bar. Drink, fight, drink, fight, drink, fight, drink, fight, drink, fight, drink.
ROB13 Sep 22nd 2009 6:25PM
Well my main is a Mage, and as true as it is, it's a low blow -cries-
uncaringbear Sep 22nd 2009 7:01PM
And one of my mages is a gnome, so the blow is even lower!
DeadNite Sep 22nd 2009 6:20PM
It's all good. We get warlocks every week in AB :D
Something to keep in mind:
-You don't have to hit the apple barrels. You can just run close by them and it will refresh your mount.
-Don't fail at jumping as seen in the video :)
-You don't have to go all the way to the guy who gives you the barrels. As seen in the video he will throw it at you and you will catch it eventually.

I kited a keg clear past the first apple barrel on the way back. It was awesome watching it spin for that long. HAHA!
Danarok Sep 23rd 2009 11:02AM
@Aaron:
On several occasions I've managed to make it all the way back to the hand-in point with the barrel still floating behind me. (As alliance) you only need to hit a point slightly to the right of end of the 1-foot high stone wall for the portable keg to show up in your inventory (which means youve done it right), you dont need to wait for the throwing animation.
Also you only need to get in line with the brewfest flag pole near the Amberstill fellow to get the hand in, no point wasting a valuable second there either.
Then you only need to hit three apple barrels per round trip, one on the way out (the closest) then shortcut over the mound on the right of the path. Then both of them on the way back. Just dont get stuck on a tree or something stupid like I have a few times. Easily 20+ runs possible.
Xpyre Sep 22nd 2009 6:30PM
The most tokens ive got is 32 from one run, so 16 kegs delivered, and that was perfect, i dont see how you could get anymore.
Freta Sep 22nd 2009 6:35PM
Oh! What kinda special interface is Turpster using? I WANT I WANT!
Plastic Rat Sep 23rd 2009 2:20AM
Yeah, I also want to know what UI that is. Especially the part that replaces his target's portrait with an animated 3d version. Seen it on one other person's UI and they never told me what it was.
Where do I get that?
Mark Turpin Sep 23rd 2009 3:23AM
The interface was made by myself and a friend of mine, the main bulk of it is a custom piece of artwork constructed in 3D and then tweaked in photoshop. The action bars and portraits are separate addons which you'll find out about in a future episode of TurpsterVision! :P
But for the 3D guys I have a feeling it is PitBull 3.
