WoW Moviewatch: Quest: Impossible
Quest: Impossible by Machini-Mations is a quick but effective piece. It's based on the Mission: Impossible music, of course, and uses the tropes and associations of that series to help inform its own characters' actions. I'm not sure if I'd call it parody or homage, but it's certainly somewhere along those veins. A tiny team of very effective Horde lay siege to the Alliance, with deadly and explosive results.
I think the strongest bit of the video is the punchline at the end, which I'll avoid recapping so as not to ruin the joke. While the overall film is fairly solid, I'm not sure if the action supports all five and a half minutes of the film. It seems to drag on a little bit. Then again, that's hardly a lot of time to ask, considering the immense amount of care and effort that clearly went into piecing together its action sequences.
Ultimately, it's a great video, and I look forward to seeing what Machini-Mation does next.

I seem to be unable to view it. Any idea why? What is it that I'm missing to be able to play this?

The WeGame embed code seems to be a bit wonky at times.
I have it up on Vimeo as well: http://www.vimeo.com/6410551

Crap, absolutely crap.
My great, great, great, great, great grandmother who was alive during the eighteenth century could have done better than that.
Go ahead, rate me down I could not care less, because I know that any comment that opposes the point of the post must be rated down regardless of its validity, so I make this comment knowing that full well.

and does saying all that make you feel better?

You mad?

If you're distant relative who had no concept of electricity, moving pictures, programming, or computers could have done a better job, then you must surely be able to make something FAR superior. Now put up or shut up.

actually, i'm not rating you down because you oppose the point of the post — i'm rating you down because you posted your opinion in the most d-baggy way possible. : P

At first I was like ok....then it made me laugh at the end.

That's an awesome piece of work.
While I agree that some parts seem to drag, the important part is that everything's important. This isn't the opening of a series (though that would be awesome) as has sometimes been linked on Moviewatch, but instead a complete story that takes place within the span of the song. That's a strong credit for this piece in and of itself. Aside from that, the level of the production never really drops below a certain point -- it all looks finely crafted and as rooted in the World of the game as much as possible.

Thank you, WoW Insider, for featuring this! I am the creator of Quest: Impossible. Although a chore at times (and a learning experience software-wise), it was also a labor of love.
I have actually received several comments from people wanting me to make this a full series. This piece took 3 months to put together (and I can still see a couple of glitches that managed to make it through post...c'est la vie) but a lot of that was also learning some of the software, creating some of the sets (the underground headquarters was created entirely in Paint Shop Pro) and designing special effects, so now that the framework is out of the way, a series might not be out of the question...we'll have to see how things go, and I'll be certain to keep you posted!
Again, thank you! This was fun!

Absolutely great stuff! Even though I play Alliance, I thought it was fun the whole way through; especially the intro for each team member!

This may be a little after-the-fact, but to find a place in the game that would work for the underground headquarters, another place would be the underground exit from DM East that drops from the ceiling into a room underneath the Dire Maul Arena.
The underground HQ, while wonderfully placed under Crossroads, is the only part of the film that really seems out of place because of the custom creation. The implementation is sound, but it felt a little jarring.
Great work, and I look forward to more!

Hmm...I never even considered that area - I'll have to check it out. Thanks, Mr. Crow!

Also, if you wanna absolutely high-tech, for a Warcraft setting anyway, there's a very cool place in Storm Peaks - entrance coordinates are 32.64, called Uldis. Some kind of enormous machine, inside the mountain, where the Temple of Storms is placed on at the top.

Though a bit long, I think the effort was well worth it.
