Varimathras' replacement: "B"

And if by "anyone," you mean the denizens of the Blizzard forums, they all seem to think it's Nathanos Blightcaller, a Forsaken who has been sitting in the Eastern Plaguelands since the game began. He's recently been mentioned again in the game, as Varian Wrynn has sent Alliance players after him in Bolvar's place, and so it makes sense that he may rejoin the Banshee Queen and take his place at her side. Balnazzar, Varimathras' demon brother, is another guess, though he's currently serving secretly with the Scarlet Crusade, so who knows how he'd come to that position. And of course, besides Bornakk, anytime you hear B you have to think of our friend Bolvar, whose fate we'll probably learn in patch 3.3 no matter what. As for who it really is, we won't know for sure until we see them in the Undercity.

@henray
Go play Halo or something if you want a game that never changes. I don't know if you know this, but Blizzard makes the lore, not you, so they can do what they want.
Idiot.
OIK2 Sep 25th 2009 7:53PM
They have said, Lore supports gameplay, not the other way around. They are making a game first and the lore is developed(and changed as needed) as the game grows.

sup, /b/.

Rules #1 and #2.

Never let suspects stay together, and Always wear gloves at a crimescene?
DogStar1313 Sep 26th 2009 6:08AM
You don't talk about fight club?
taurshaz Sep 26th 2009 9:00AM
Rules 1 and 2 only apply to raids.
taurshaz Sep 25th 2009 6:25PM
When you see it, you'll shit brix?
Maxisawesome Sep 25th 2009 6:26PM
B?
Stands for Saurfang, duh.
themightysven Sep 25th 2009 8:43PM
this is true, Saurfang's real first name is Brittany. (you gonna make fun of him for it?)
Kyle Sep 25th 2009 6:29PM
I'm good with the theory that Bolvar could be made to become part of the Forsaken. I dunno, he always seemed to have a more competitive attitude towards the Horde than a hatred of them. Of course, he and Saurfang the Younger are set as raid bosses for Icecrown... so something would have to happen there that would unlock a quest chain to bring Bolvar back to the Undercity as a new member of the Forsaken. Balnazzar would be a more probable option to replace the old dreadlord. But then again, why would Sylvanas want another one of the bastards standing next to her again?
You do have to assume though that if Bolvar were to join the Forsaken, Saurfang the Younger must take a seat with the Ebon Blade after he is turned.
Dreyja Sep 25th 2009 6:35PM
Ugh. If Bolvar ends up in undercity I will have gastro-intestinal trauma of the brick-shaped nature! ;-p
If she brings in another Dreadlord then Sylvanas is stupid. Honesly, she's got other choices I'm sure. Doen't she have any responsible generals from, "in house," left anymore?
hiiro Sep 25th 2009 6:38PM
Maybe it IS Nathanos Blightcaller. We do need a hunter trainer in Undercity for Cataclysm.
RogueJedi86 Sep 25th 2009 9:10PM
Because there's no portal in Undercity to Silvermoon City which has Hunter trainers, right? Then again, I think every Alliance city has a Hunter trainer.
drakolord Sep 25th 2009 10:04PM
That's not the point. The point is they need to have explanation for Undead Hunters, which will likely be done through a Hunter Trainer in Undercity. "The Blood Elves/Orcs/Trolls/Tauren taught them" excuse would just be stupid and lazy.
Snuzzle Sep 25th 2009 10:37PM
@Drakolord
Human hunters.
Undead hunters.
See where I am going with this?
They retained it from before they died. Simple.
Though I do agree, putting Nathanos into UC as a hunter trainer would be a good move. Especially since isn't the Plaguelands getting a massive revamp in Cata? Nathanos could conceivably be pushed out and forced to come to UC.

The next blue post says "you won't guess him by taking shots in the dark". It'll be Blightcaller, he's a hunter. Undead need a hunter trainer. They wouldn't just allow undead hunters then force new people to figure out the whole GO TO SILVERMOON thing.
Kyle Sep 26th 2009 2:43AM
Sylvanas = Former Ranger General of Silvermoon
good enough? I'd say hunters are perfectly fine for the Forsaken to have. This is not a class combo worthy of whining about. How hard is it to shoot things with a bow/gun?
ZakuraX Sep 26th 2009 6:28AM
@Kyle
Ranger is not the same as hunter. They are similar, but only one of them uses a pet ^^
But I agree that they do not need a explaination for why the undead suddenly can become hunters. As stated before in wow.com comments, the reason why undead can't be hunters (and BEs can't be warriors) is that you can only chose the most popular classes of that race.
If Blightcaller commes to Undercity, then it could lead to many more undead taking a interest in becomming a hunter.

" Immolated Champion?
One of the visions in the Yogg-Saron encounter shows the Lich King, an "Immolated Champion" and a "Turned Champion". Showing the Immolated Champion in a model viewer, it seems like it would be Bolvar, while the Turned Champion is Saurfang the Younger in death knight armor.
It was confirmed at Blizzcon 2009 that he will be a raid boss in Icecrown. As reported on worldofraids.com liveblog of Blizzcon 2009,
Saurfang will be an encounter in Icecrown, as will Bolvar. We asked what happened to Bolvar at the fansite summit and one of the gameplay programmers grinned and said "well, his body isn't there, right?" "
