Varimathras' replacement: "B"

And if by "anyone," you mean the denizens of the Blizzard forums, they all seem to think it's Nathanos Blightcaller, a Forsaken who has been sitting in the Eastern Plaguelands since the game began. He's recently been mentioned again in the game, as Varian Wrynn has sent Alliance players after him in Bolvar's place, and so it makes sense that he may rejoin the Banshee Queen and take his place at her side. Balnazzar, Varimathras' demon brother, is another guess, though he's currently serving secretly with the Scarlet Crusade, so who knows how he'd come to that position. And of course, besides Bornakk, anytime you hear B you have to think of our friend Bolvar, whose fate we'll probably learn in patch 3.3 no matter what. As for who it really is, we won't know for sure until we see them in the Undercity.

EPL is getting redone in Cataclysm. They'll just remove the quest. No quests to turn in to Blightcaller = no problem.
RogueJedi86 Sep 25th 2009 9:13PM
@Guildenstern
Plus Alliance have been killing him for years for a level 60 quest, which is another reason he shouldn't be in EPL(or Undercity or anywhere else): because he's dead in lore.
Guildenstern Sep 25th 2009 9:28PM
Except that he's not dead in lore.
Just like Drek'thar is dead in lore, because Alliance kills him in BG, right?
Again-- it's going to be Blightcaller.
Lum Sep 26th 2009 1:17AM
Blightcaller is a hunter, am I right?
Hunter = Feign Death.
Feign Death = Fool Alliance questdoers into thinking he's dead.
Hence, Blightcaller may not be dead in lore after all.
traptinacivicsi Sep 27th 2009 9:57AM
Feign death usually doesn't end in the pets dieing after I tanked them for 2 min after he died, then watching him fade away a few minutes later.
I spit on your weak little 'horde'.
Pollux Sep 25th 2009 8:23PM
Buxley.
.... we don't seem to be using our imaginations very much.
Why on Azeroth would that runt, Blightcaller, be approved for an advisory position in the top ranks of the Forsaken hierarchy? Furthermore, why would the Bronze flight endorse, much less even associate with him? This is a pipe dream.
theRaptor Sep 25th 2009 8:28PM
Runt? You mean Nathanos "Champion of the Forsaken" Blightcaller?
He was the only Forsaken hero apart from Sylvanas that I ever got into (mainly because non-Orcs are notably lacking in the hierarchy of the horde in game).
Guildenstern Sep 25th 2009 8:30PM
...The bronze whelp delivered the letter because it's a letter from the future. Patch 3.3 = the future.
Also Blightcaller plays fetch with his pets with human skulls. He is awesome.
Eisengel Sep 25th 2009 9:37PM
IIRC he's also the first (maybe the only?) Human to have been granted the title of "Ranger" by the Elves (who were still High Elves at the time... I think) and was personally trained by Sylvanas when they were still alive... so he's not just awesome, he's a sundae of stupendous smothered in awesomesauce sprinkled with chopped pwnage.
Guildenstern Sep 25th 2009 9:51PM
Yeah, he's the first, last and only human Ranger Lord. Dude is awesome.
thayle Sep 25th 2009 8:30PM
It's Bolvar!
Evidence:
"Chances are quite good that you're not going to guess the writer with shots in the dark. ;)"
-Kisirani
Alexstrasza: [Draconic] They must not discover the fate of the young paladin. Not yet. (Said after wrathgate)
The "shots in the dark" implies that actually we should look to the light. Bolvar was a paladin, hence light. Also, since his fate is unknown (except to the dragons) it makes perfect sense that this was actually his true fate! This could also help in bringing the horde and alliance closer, at least for the moment, to take down the Lich King.
Guildenstern Sep 25th 2009 8:49PM
Bolvar is a raid boss in 3.3.
This 'hurrr Bolvar' thing is getting pretty silly.
themightysven Sep 25th 2009 8:54PM
not Blightcaller or Balnazzar, too early for Bolvar.
maybe it's Baron Revilgaz
or one of the Barovs
but the answer is from Naxxramas
not Lady Blaumeux
or Mister Bigglesworth
(though these would be cool)
but it is, in fact, Patchwerk.
(he's not that good at spelling his initial, but he wants that Ur book to work on his reading comp skills)
Torlaz Sep 25th 2009 11:59PM
It'll be Blightcaller.. It's just deflection from Blizz :P
Hopefully they buff his model/look to be a bit more ranger-lord-like and less Rexxar-wannabe

Bella, a woman who goes on and on about how she's fallen in love with a member of the San'layn and he's so sparkly and wonderful.
Alliance raids on the Undercity increase tenfold. The Horde actively encourages them.
Raze Sep 25th 2009 9:17PM
Kisarani is seriously the only cool Blizzard poster. Ghostcrawler is a walking meme and the less said about Bornakk the better.
Axal Sep 25th 2009 9:18PM
Baron Valimar Mordis? Or did he die (again) in the comic?
RogueJedi86 Sep 25th 2009 9:21PM
Don't let it be Nathanos Blightcaller, it just clashes with everything the Alliance has fought for. We've been killing him for years for a level 60 quest given to us by the King himself(or his Regent, Bolvar pre-LK). http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=6187 is the quest.
The Horde are taking Azshara, most of Ashenvale, setting a foothold in Darkshore, and taking Southshore. Give the Alliance something in return by letting us finally be rid of the man we've been killing for years. I'll trade Southshore for Blightcaller's demise in a heartbeat.
Guildenstern Sep 25th 2009 9:22PM
Technically the Alliance killed Drek'Thar in Vanilla, but he's alive and well in BC.
It's going to be Blightcaller.
