For those of you who are leveling an alt mage and have enough badges to get them heirloom gear, you'll notice that the mele dps is fairly high on the heirloom staff and caster mace compared to the weapons you tend to find during those levels. One thing i noticed while playing a priest alt is that i did a bit more dps meleing with my heriloom caster mace than i did with the smite spell XD. Obviously, this only last for the first couple of levels, your spells evening out and finally surpassing it around level 10ish, but its fun to watch a mage actually beat something to death with a stick.
