Fire's actually slightly better for the early levels IMO. Fireball has enough extra range it partly makes up for no snare and the dot ticking away kills stuff while your dress* wearing self is heroically running away. Used to recommend switching to frost as soon as you could get ice barrier but....See, the thing is, you become fond of your elemental. (Perfect guests: they don't stick around long enough to wear out their welcome and don't show up uninvited.) Ice barrier making you not die. Shatter-Blizzard turning whole zones into exploding icicles. Watching the playoff game while using one cast button. That sort of stuff. It's downright abusive to recommend frost and get the kiddies hooked when they'll be forced to ditch it to out-DPS the dots the D/C'd 'lock left on the boss.Go fire, leave soot smears everywhere. Might as well get it over with.*mages do NOT wear dresses. We wear Man Garments of Virility, thank you very muchPS "It turns into sheep things that, until the moment you cast the spell, were not previously sheep" (with the original italics intact) is the real explanation of mage awesomeness. Well done.
