Breakfast Topic: Harvest Festival

Then nothing! Well, you see all sorts of ghosts all over the place (which is creepy, but hey, it's almost Hallow's End, anyway), but there's really nothing that stands out. At least the ghosts from the Lunar Festival had those cool moonbeams. No, Harvest Festival is the half-baked holiday that doesn't even have an Achievement. Yep, it's so bad that even a one day event such as Pirates' Day trumps it with an Achievement, and was even cool enough for WoW.com to organize some shenanigans around it. No wonder nobody hangs around that smelly kid!
So today, on the beginning of Harvest Festival, let's dedicate a word or two to World of Warcraft's most unimpressive holiday. What are you planning to do? Without any Achievements, you can even ignore it! If you're Horde, there's that quest to visit Grom Hellscream's monument in Ashenvale, but his son Garrosh has been such an unbearable asshat that even that has lost its charm. Unless Blizzard plans to hotfix the event and dredge it from the murky depths of suck, here's a Breakfast Topic to welcome the holiday that's so uncool that even artwork of a Harvest Golem looks better. And man, Harvest Golems are ugly mothers.

Ehm sucks? free food 1 quest and a few fireworks is not much fun -_-
uncaringbear Sep 27th 2009 10:16AM
Actually, the fireworks are pretty cool, and some are quite pretty. I will be buying a heap of them.

I'll tip my hat to the table as I go over to Brewfest to do the dailies.
Alanid Sep 27th 2009 4:58PM
I did the same, then later it peaked my curiosity so I went and talked to the guy, who subsequently sent me to honor Uther the Lightbringer at his tomb... as a paladin I enjoyed this as a little RP moment.
Then I returned to brewfest to wait for the dark irons.

If you're Horde watch this first:

Now go take that darn quest and pay your respects. Its the least you can do, ya ungrateful whelps.
If you really want to get into the RP side, pick the Groms blood growing around the area while AOE'ing down the Burning Legion that infest the spot where Hellscream fell.

@Cowy
This. Don't forget the greatest Orc hero known to the Horde because of how his son is screwy everything up.
Deadly. Off. Topic. Sep 28th 2009 9:28AM
Having done both, I found it almost laughable how the Horde can just ride up through the barrens (or fly over to Splinterpost) and turn the quest in (in a level 20 area) while the allies have to fly all the way to Chillwind camp and go through a level 50 area.
Oh don't get me wrong, as a level 80 I'm not about to aggro a thing, but don't you think it's a little bit unfair to anyone who isn't?

Running by to do my Brewfest dailies, I see a yellow exclamation point, and I got excited, thinking there was a Brewfest quest I had missed that would give me more tokens. Imagine my disappointment when it was the Harvest Festival quest. At least I'm a paladin and feel obligated to pay tribute to the Lightbringer every year...

Meh, could be worse.
http://www.wowhead.com/?achievement=1701 anyone?
RetPallyJil Sep 27th 2009 8:16AM
Why, I'll hit the feast table and observe the holiday!
You party poopers - maybe your TOON needs a bank holiday! They need to do laundry, mow the lawn, and nurse hangovers too, ya know!
Jim Sep 27th 2009 8:26AM
Wow, tell us what you really think, why don't you Zach? I do agree with you though, in any case. The quest where you honor Uther was nice, if a little bland, but that's pretty much how I'd desribe this whole holiday anyway.
Kakistocracy Sep 27th 2009 10:19AM
The quest is a bit more exciting if you're way too low level to be there, if I recall. Something about undead munching on your face while you try to honor a Paladin.
Jalaris.Ghostlands Sep 27th 2009 8:31AM
Finished the quest on my alts. Takes about 10 minutes and gives 500 faction rep. All done I guess...
Dharmabhum Sep 27th 2009 8:34AM
I'll be celebrating Harvest Fest the same way I do at school and abroad, with the gathering of a wonderful crop of fresh herbs n spices from the fields. Nothing like rewarding a long season of care for your crop with a little indulgence to celebrate the fruits of your labor. By that I mean I'll be burning a fat one on the porch B-) ==> 0_o ==> :-D
Harvest Fest 4tw, even if Blizz doesn't care about it
traptinacivicsi Sep 27th 2009 10:31AM
Shh.. everyone in here are the 'cool' kids and will downrate anything associated with pot, even through they have a whole holiday devoted to drinking, which has far worse consequences, as statistics prove.
People... /scoffs ... Harvest It Up! :D
Bronwyn Sep 27th 2009 12:44PM
*rolleyes*
eman32471 Sep 27th 2009 4:29PM
This is for the comment below. Drinking only has more dire consequences because it's alowed to happen. If pot were legal then I'm sure it would prove to be more of a problem.
Zanathos Sep 27th 2009 7:02PM
interesting theory, eman32471. However, you might want to read about something known as Prohibition, as making drinking illegal only made the social consequences worse.

I see many achievements for Harvest Fest under the world event tab. Including the final showing "Reward Pilgrim title and Plump Turkey Pet".
I haven't logged in today, am I just getting them confused with another or are they simply not yet implemented
Peter B. Sep 27th 2009 9:02AM
Wooops. My mistake. I was thinking of Pilgrims Bounty. :P
