A new animation for Feed Pet

Well I grabbed my own video of the new Feed Pet animation, but it turns out that Lougara on YouTube did it much better, so that's their video you can watch above. Yes, as hunters everywhere have noticed, Blizzard has added a brand new animation to the feeding of a hunter pet -- you can actually see your hunter toss a piece of grub to the pet, who then catches it and noms away.
It would be cool to see it go a little further -- maybe have the pet claw and chew away at it for a moment -- but then again with so many different types of pets out there, it's probably tough for Blizzard to make them all look good. Still, it's a nice little touch for immersion, and it has the added bonus of showing other players when you're tossing food to your pet as well. Of course, with Bloodthirsty as a pet talent or the Glyph of Mend Pet going, you may not even need to feed your pet any more, but if you do, that's what you'll see.

I noticed the new animation during a Koralon run last week. It's a lot of fun with my owl and people in the guild were impressed. The moth, however, barely moves when you throw her food.
I like the animation of the Raptor in the video above.

It looks like it's just the default attack animation for the pet with a chunk of something added. So if you like the way the pet looks when attacking, you'll like the way it looks when eating.

Ah, that makes sense. I suppose the moth animation for attacking is pretty simple. I'm not even sure there's a mouth there to eat anything. O.o

Yeah. The new animation is pretty cool. Watching my pissed off looking bear grab it out of mid-air is pretty neat. Gives the whole hunter/pet bond some real life feel to it :)
I'll have to try out my other pets to see some different ones.

Just like you said, with the glyph and talent, I don't even have feed pet on my action bar. It's to bad they didn't do this earlier when feed pet was actually used. :(
On a side note, what about Spiced Mammoth Treats? Does using those give the same animation?

Yeah... not sure why they added this. Kind of like adding a new animation for kitty druid Claw that only kicks in at level 60.

No. The Spiced Mammoth Treats don't cause the feed pet animation. I think it's because, technically, you're eating the treat to provide the buff.

I never actually use the "Feed pet" spell. Since they made it possible, I've always just drag-and-dropped the food I want to use onto my pet. Does it have the same animation?

Yes. Dragging and dropping food onto your pet basically invokes the Feed Pet skill and still kicks off the animation.

Now someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I also think there're new stun animations for pets that lacked them, too. I was in ToC the other day and when my Sporebat got a face full of Eadric's Radiance, I could of sworn I'd never seen it enter a stun animation before than.

They also added a missing MountSpecial anim to all drake mounts. Before just the Netherdrakes had it. I believe they added it because of the new Onyxian Drake Mount...

Drake mounts have always had a /mountspecial animation. It's just now Netherdrakes don't have their own unique one anymore and do the same wing-stretched roar that the others did before.

Several of us thought we were seeing things on Tuesday so 5 of us got together in Dalaran and fed our pets at the same time. It's a nice touch.

The animation is also in for feeding your raptor pet during the mount daily quests in Ungoro.

That's the first place I noticed it too, in 3.2.0. Maybe they liked the animation so much that they decided to add it to all of the pets.

Honestly, with Glyph of Mend Pet, I would have never noticed this if it wasn't posted here. It's a cute little addition, to be sure, but I'm not likely to see it much. Not unless they give Hunters some better Minor Glyphs, anyway.

If they wanted to be even more realistic, the pet should catch the treat, run outside, bury it in the ground, then go dig it up an hour later and bring it back in, then eat it.
Well, that's how it works with my dog anyway!
