If Cataclysm were to include a new class, what would it be?

The Death Knight in Wrath of the Lich King was the first class introduced to WoW, and it's inclusion in the game has had mixed reviews. Most folks agree that the class provided a great new element to play in the game, however its balance in raids and PvP is something that is constantly under the microscope. Ghostcrawler has mentioned numerous times that the Death Knight has taken up more time to balance in Wrath than any other class. This is problematic for numerous reasons, but has been able to be handled nicely by the designers and programmers (I'm sure there'll be some who disagree, however show some restraint in your disagreement).
So now for the hypothetical part -- if Blizzard were to introduce a new class in Cataclysm, I would suspect that it would be the healing counterpart to the Death Knight. Mechanics of the class would probably operate similar to the Death Knight's rune system: each small heal or heal over time would be castable based on an available rune, which would in turn generate runic power for larger heals. The class would rely less on spam type heals (such as the Paladin, to some extent), and more on preventative heals (such as the Druid, to some extent).
Because I'm narcissistic, I'd name the class Adam Knight. Or failing that, Arch Cleric. Of course the sadistic side of me could come into play and say "lets name the class the Monk, just to rub it in the face of all those D3 players." Again, sadistic side that'd never see the light of day, never.
The lore behind the Arch Cleric would be that the Cataclysm which struck Azeroth awakened a secretive order of priests whom had been studying under the watchful guise of a master Death Knight which converted to the priestly way of life. Now that the world is in ruins, this order of Arch Clerics called the Divine March leads the fight to restore and heal the peoples of Azeroth; seeing to the ultimate destruction of Deathwing.
So let's hear your ideas. If Blizzard were to introduce a new class to the game in Cataclysm, which we know they won't, what would it be?
Dear Chris Metzen,

- Adam.

Bard.

another waste of bandwidth.
Bard was a joke that Blizz put out a few years ago. Couldnt you come up with your own joke instead of bogarting an old one?
The majority of the communication in this has digressed into cliche one word answers that have been used a zillion times prior to your super witty original response

You mean a spellsword/ armored caster class with a dazzling array of party-wide buffs?
Sounds like the Shaman to me. Except without the whole, I'm a useless musician who inexplicably leads warriors to greatness by incessantly playing Scarborough Fair in their heads while they struggle to concentrate as a giant black dragon tries to rip them apart.
Bard: Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Fighter: Will you PLEASE stop singing and do something useful?
Bard: What? Dost the sound of sweet folken music do you naught?
Mage: I'm more of a Pop guy. do you know Single Ladies?
Bard: No, not familiar with that one.
Rogue: Well, dammit! Do something that can actually help us!
Bard: I can identify what ancient Han dynasty ruler had that vase commissioned!
...
Fighter: Should have brought a cleric (gets swallowed by dragon).

Well Bard works for Final Fantasy XI... In fact, they are as wanted as much as a healer most of the time. For WoW though, it would be a gamble to make a 100% support class, so they'd more than likely throw in a way to deal damage, probably by sonic-based attacks. Think of the talent trees being like Serenity (Defensive buffs and medium heals, stuff like resistance and HoTs), Courage (Offensive, would require stacking debuffs to the target before DPS can truly begin, which would make them ideal for long fights)
I got too much *clap clap* time on my hands...

I have to jump in to say:
Imagine how GOOD Blizzard would handle a bard class. Their humor is amazing, imagine the songs they'd pick for effects ^_^

I'm well aware of the beginnings of the bard class as a joke, but I still think it's a cool idea. I'd play one in a heartbeat.
And what's the difference between casting spells and buffs with "mana" or "runic power" as opposed to doing it through song? You could attack with certain songs, buff with others. Hell, we've already got drums to replace Pally buffs now, so it's not so far fetched.
I played a bard way back in Everquest 1. The game sucked, but I enjoyed playing the bard. It could essentially be just another "caster DPS/healer" with good cc (if they make cc relevant again). And a new style of weapon: Instruments! Or, short-term buffs with low cooldowns could be important: "Allegrissimo: Increases haste rating of targeted party member by X for 15 seconds." This would make it a class that would require a decent knowledge of what other classes need at specific times.
Meh...this is just the musician in me talking, isn't it?

Wears leather, high agility, and dual-wields one handed weapons.
Johnny, that rogue in the back of the room is waving his arms fervently but you just don’t seem to see him. Sure, he's not level 65, but he'll work very hard.
Master of disguise just brings to my mind images of Dana Carvey in a turtle suit.
Turtle turtle!

no bard...
Next Hero Class = Battlemages, spell casting tanks
if that's not it, then it must be Antirogues... Antirogues do really (and I mean REALLY) crappy damage, and have one really crappy heal, but they can fully see anything that is stealthed, are completely immune to stun (only stuns.. you can fear, cyclone, frost nova them, etc...) and can perform their own CC's so well that they will make Frost Mages bow down to worship them.
jk... but srsly, you know who really really wants a new Hero Class? Death Knights. DK's have been nerfed to the point where they are now not really even Death Knights... more like Flu Knights or Papercut Knights, and yet the mass of players (not the good ones who know wtf2do) still cry about how OP they are and how it is just a /faceroll... sorry, but the days of /facerolling on your DK and topping the dps charts or dominating pvp are over. They were nice, but they are gone. Unfortunately, until another Hero Class comes along.... well, lets just say that most Hunters I know are very pleased with the introduction of Death Knights. "Huntards" just isn't fashionable anymore, todays fad is all about "Death Knoobs".
^ and yes... Death Knoob is copywrited, but feel free to steal it from me.
Sean Sep 28th 2009 7:59PM
Yes, Death Knoob is copyrighted. Bear Butt Blogger used it in his writing months ago.
Munky Sep 29th 2009 11:18AM
I would play a bard just to sing of the brave Sir Robin:
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out
Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin
