WoW Moviewatch: Grind
It's been a little while since we've heard from Nyhm and Summergale, especially as a duo act. That made the tip that they've released a new video an incredibly exciting bit of news. The bonus to this news is that the video isn't just a song, but also includes a brief mock-commercial as the opening to the video.
The opening commercial is a parody of the Real Men of Genius spots by Budweiser. In the short segment, Nyhm and Summergale poke a bit of fun at the immense shoulder armor design favored by World of Warcraft. I wish I could say some of Nyhm's hypothesized designs were so far-fetched as to be laughable. But based only on a quick, visual scan, I could almost see Arthas dropping some of it.
The song itself is called Grind. It's a WoW-themed parody of Busta Rhyme's Break Ya Neck. I have to admit that Grind didn't appeal to me quite as much as other work from Nyhm or Summergale, but the video introduced a technique that I thought was a lot of fun. The chibi-like portrayal of the singers really lightened up the video, and made the entire production much more engaging. It was a cool thing to do, and I'd like to see Nyhm grow that technique more in future videos.

Seems like he hardly tried on this one...I even liked that one about Holy Priests more than this.

The best thing Nymh videos have going for them is Summergale. They can have a pretty good synergy when they mix her melody and his lyrics. However, the bulk of what Summergale does in this one is say the exact same things Nymh is saying - only even quieter. What a waste.

Wasn't he supposed to "quit" after he did the (not so bad) Pwnage Like Us? I thought that was his Encore, his Final Farewell.
Mind you, Summergale ain't all that either. That one she did about Ulduar was a bit "pfft".
*Starts to watch* Oh, my dear. This is absolutely ridiculous. Nyhm, please, give up. You don't have it anymore. Even "I'm Too Pally" is better than this.

I don't know about you all, but I liked this.
I haven't watched any nyhm videos since his "retirement", but this reminded me a lot of the good old days. (like hard like heroic, my favorite)
And I think he did an admirable job of imitating the source material. With all that wtflol fast rapping, that's talent.
So if you're reading this somewhere out there nyhm, keep fighting the good fight.

I didn't like this one at all. The beginning was really funny but this was just a one. The song wasn't very funny or engaging. I thought he had quit as well... but this one does say he's had this in the works for months so maybe this one was before he said he was through?

I thought this was not very good the mouthing didn't match up at all to the type of song. I may be expecting too much but just wasn't that good to me.

The fact that most are shunning it because of the quality of the machinima is INSANE.
The fact that he rapped to that beat is just incredible. Seriously impressed.

It really was too much to hope Nyhm had given up machinima.
No I am not a troll, I am being serious - I am absolutely amazed people aren't sick of second rate dance video / bad rap WoW theme's - you want to hear a really good WoW song?
Listen to Pally Pete.
Why?
Cos it's GOOD.
