Hot off the forums comes word from Bornaak that Brewfest, that celebration of things like drinking, throwing mugs at invaders, and
killing an unwashed Dark Iron Dwarf in hopes that he drops a kodo
has been extended two days to October 5th. If, like me, you've been farming him for days only to pass the Kodo to your wife because, well, you love her and want her to be happy (and also you know you're doomed if you don't) then you'll celebrate additional chances to whack him in hopes of Kodo. Or deadly beer stein. Or maybe you just like doing
Ram Riding, or got a late start on your tickets. Whatever the reason we can all celebrate the extension of this, our yearly excuse to go back to BRD and kill a dwarf to steal his lucky cha... er, I mean
trinkets.
Now get cracking,
make every second of those two extra days count. Complete your Achievements, get your loots, whatever you need you have more time.

The Positioning of the Vanity Pet and the Kodo's right front leg looks like he's munching down on Mr. Wiggles.
Sure, that makes his jaw look pretty far back but still, Kodo's love bacon!

I have been trying to get my Priest high enough to get a shot at the trinkets. I had just about given up but now she has a definite chance.

Could we have a link to the the original forum post? I know it's usually buried somewhere in the many links embedded in the article, but I cant seem to find it.

Back in 2007 I did the grind for tickets to buy hand stamps for six characters. Yes, six, it was monotonous but still fun. Over time, playing other MMOs on and off, I deleted three of those characters. I am now back to wow for good and finally got my chars high enough level (40) to use the stamps this year. The quest allowed me to purchase both slow and fast rams for those three characters, though I look just like everyone else right now as everyone is using brewfest hops, so I end up using a mammoth to be different (haha).
One of my three will miss out on the Brewmaster title as being level 68 doesn't allow a group with Coren, hopefully next year I can knock him out first day and be done.

Important to remember! Your brewfest brew of the month membership from last year WILL expire!
So be careful to get your binary brew tonight before the new brew comes out if you want the meta achievement! Or if you didn't get autumnal acorn ale last year for the meta, you will need to REJOIN the brew of the month club to buy it this year!

WAHT??? Was there any warning of this? Did the membership say ANYWHERE on it that it expired at the end of the first year?? I don't remember seeing that anywhere. There is definitely no indication on this year's membership that its any different than last year's! I went to buy the last brew i needed to complete the achievement this morning and was horrified to find I could no longer purchase it. I somehow missed it last october - which i find hard to believe, there is no way i would have taken it out of my mailbox and not drank it - i think it just didn''t give me credit for some reason. But I figured, oh well, i have to wait a year to get all the other brews anyway so what's one more month, right? But now i may be screwed out of a whole other year if i can't get 200 more tokens by the 5th! BLIZZARD!! Why do u do this to us!? How hard would it have been to put a "2008" or "2009" on the membership so we'd know they weren't the same? I blew all my extra tokens already and its too late to return any of the items I purchased!

I believe the brew of the month club does indeed say it only lasts 1 year.
However i agree. I managed to join the club last year and was somewhat irked to find that the first beverage was never posted to me, by the tiem i realised i wasn't getting it and had to go buy it it was already too late and teh next month had started. I was also somewhat disapointed to see that the membership doesn't actually last a full 12 months, or 365 days (ie from the 9th of september 2008 to the 8th of september 2009) as i was not sent the first/last beverage this time round either. I rejoined however and bought it manually but that first Binary beverage is a bit of a git to get at if your not in the know... Especially as if you join today you've already missed it.
I heard some people were mailed their initial brews though so i'm guessing i/we were just unlucky.

Blizzard removed Brew of the Year (sample 12 beers) from the meta-achievement. You just need to join the Brew of the Month, although Brew of the Year is 10 more achievement points.

I got the Kodo last year on my main, personally I don't give my alts jack unless it's necessary. ^_^
But my lovely boyfriend, prot pally that he is, helps me farm all my mounts and pets, even though he realizes they're all going to me pretty much uncontestedly. So when he said one of the few mounts he really likes is the Kodo (strange guy huh?) I figured I'd run with him to /Need and trade it to him if I got it.
We saw it drop in two groups together, and I saw it drop two or three times without him. The first time it was lost to us, but the second the winner offered to sell it. Another groupie mentioned they'd buy it but kindly passed it on for us to buy.
My poor boyfriend only had 200g on him! D: Luckily my alt did have some cash on her, and I ended up buying it for him.
For 400g.
What a steal! :3

I think Blizzard should hand achievement when people do something nice for other players. This encourages more people to behave less like jerks and also show new players that WOW is not always about insensitive morons and a$$holes. We're not obligated to hand gold to random people but it's the little things we do that will add up in the end. I know people are going to try and rush for that achievement by handing out gold to their friends and then have their friends hand the gold right back. If only there was a way for us to do something nice for the achievement without somebody abusing it.

I may get this done this year now =)
jorge_av Sep 30th 2009 11:24PM
Aww no! I decided late that I wanted the meta achievement, so I did the math and it turned out that if I did both dailies everyday & get lucky on the keg runs I would get enough tokens to get everything for the meta for two characters. Well my connection decided to go south last night & I missed doing the dailies before they reset, so I just said screw it & bought the Brew of the Month membership. Now, even with the two extra days I won't have enough tokens to buy all the clothes for the last achievement. Sadness.
NecDW4 Oct 1st 2009 1:24AM
Awesome, 2 more days of nothing but eggs and watches, for the all plate parties.
Deadly. Off. Topic. Oct 1st 2009 3:51PM
If he drops another egg, I'm gonna officially start calling Coren the Easter Bunny.
Trig Oct 1st 2009 1:30AM
Kinda peeved. I stopped doing the dailies because I figured I couldn't get enough tokens to buy all the things for the achievement.
Tony Bowman Oct 1st 2009 2:36AM
you guys do realize that you can sell the the clothes back, for a FULL refund of brewfest tokens, after you do the dancing in Dalaran while smashed bit, right? so, 6 days total of dailies at 41 tokens a day (15 for barking at the 4 spots in town, 10 for defending the kegs, 16 for ram racing/barrel delivery, plus whatever you got from the initial quests(hit the robot with mugs, zap the eleks in 3 cities, etc) and if you're high enough level to kill coren should easily get you over 350.
that gets you the 3 pieces of clothes, you go get smashed in Dal and dance. go back to the brewfest vendor, sell all the clothes back, get your 350 tokens back, turn around and join the brew of the month club, buy the vanity pet (pink elek), do the dailies for 1 more day, buy the pony keg, then use whatever you've go left to buy preserved hops, so you can pop out the kodo or ram throughout the year.
it's not rocket surgery here, folks!
danawhitaker Oct 1st 2009 4:23AM
@Tony
Did you stop to consider that some people actually *want* the clothes? I got the meta last week, but I've been continuing to do the dailies so that I can re-purchase the clothes. I do think it's sort of cheezewhiz in that you can actually wear the clothes and complete an achievement with them and sell them back, but that's Blizzard's system, so whatever. I did it because I wanted my title early.
It's not just all about the achievements for some people. Keep that perspective in mind when you offer advice about how to do the holiday event and berate someone for lamenting about the fact that it was hard to get enough tokens.
That being said, it actually was doable using the dailies and the time given originally by Blizzard, so I think the person you originally replied to did their math wrong (or skipped a lot of days throughout the event to start with). Skipping four extra days of ram racing (@ once every 18 hours), I was going to be able to get the clothes again on Saturday (for keeps this time). I would have ended up with an extra hundred doing the racing those four days. Though admittedly, I partook in the festivities as soon as the clock hit midnight on the first day, which means I got an extra day of dailies in before the daily reset three hours later.
I've gone to do the summon every night, and have gotten both the ram and the kodo now, as well as the remote, and the Tankard o Terror. I'm still using my summons to help other people in the guild get their mounts. It would have been nice if the Direbrew daily quest actaully gave a small amount of tokens upon completion (5 or 10) to help boost the people that are terribad at ram racing (or who had glitches with it, I know a few times I did it I either got disconnected or accidentally tried to use a pet while clicking on the reins icon).
Ultimately, I have no problem with Blizzard throwing a few extra days at people for this, even though I have everything done. There's not a ton of wiggle room really and I suspect a lot of people were going to be very very close to having the meta because of simply missing a few days here and there on the dailies. None of the other holidays I've participated in up til now have had such a tight daily regimen required. Taking into account also that some people may have had the disappearing token issue and never noticed/reported it (and I lost 80, which was a pretty hefty sum), I'm sure some people were behind with no clue why.

Whoa whoa whoa. 16 for keg delivery? Are you mad?
I make 40-42 each and every ram delivery. This is considered 'pro'...but honestly, making 24-26 should not be out of the question. 16 is just awful.
