Felicia Day on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Our favorite DIY web series star Felicia Day showed up on network television last night, and you can watch the result after the break below. She appeared on Jimmy Fallon's late night show to promote the release of The Guild's new retail DVD, in stores right now. I watched it in HDTV on my regular television, and it was a pretty surreal experience: this is the Internet gaming culture moving mainstream as we watch it. Sure, it's just Fallon (and he's made a commitment to gaming and its culture already), but to have people talking this frankly and honestly about the gaming experience on network television is a nice step forward.
The two chat about their first meeting, where Felicia helped Fallon roll up a draenei, as well as Dr. Horrible and how all of The Guild DVDs are made. And at the end of the interview, Fallon even hooks her up with some tickets to a NY show. Looks like it was a lot of fun, and it's great to see someone who's worked so hard on something they love get a nice bit of recognition for it.
Update: Sorry, forgot that Hulu only works in the US. Here's another video that should work outside the States.

Come on Schramm, you coulda got some type of screen shot that was maybe a little flattering for Felicia....this one is kinda fail man.

Amen - you would have to work hard to find a lead photo from that clip that makes her look more like Skeletor wearing a wig - which is unfortunate, because she's a very attractive woman. Geez, Mike - show some love for the girl.

She is so charmingly awkward...
intangir Sep 30th 2009 6:27PM
How about "endearingly neurotic"? ;)

She's a good interview. It's funny to see a celebrity who isn't fake about everything or worrying about everyone judging every word they say :)

Yeah, I think that's probably the biggest thing about Felicia Day, she's everything but fake. Even her acting has a certain realness to it.
Plus the fact that she actually got off her ass and put together a show from the ground up, wrote and managed it. Well that stuff's not fake. That takes brains and guts... and probably several other important and squishy body parts.

Plus.. like.. she's really hot and stuff...

I wonder how many other people see only:
"We're sorry, currently our video library can only be streamed within the United States. For more information ..."
Kelsey Sep 30th 2009 5:21PM
Probably everyone outside the United States. Just a guess, though...
Lageno Sep 30th 2009 5:22PM
I get that to : /

Ahh, wondrous Hulu. Great for everyone.. IN the US

Pretty sure we've been over this. Hulu supports itself through advertisements displayed during the shows- and the contracts they have with the advertisers is based obviously on how many hits the show is going to get, compounded by how attractive its target market is to the advertisers. Is a US-only company going to pay much to advertise in europe? No, that's a terrible business model.
"Why doesn't Hulu just not show ads in europe? Surely the data transfer costs wouldn't be THAT high- almost negligible even!"
One word- Proxy. It is incredibly easy to convince a server to think you're connected from wherever you want- and advertisers know that. They won't pay nearly as much for the screen time if they think a large portion of their hits are going to spoof european IP addresses and skip their ads. Even in the US, if there's an error in the chain while your ad is loading, you don't get dropped back into the show. You get a 30-second black screen with instructions to turn off ad blockers, etc. After a couple of those in a session, you're locked out.

Good for her. I hope she makes a bajillion dollars and that it doesn't screw her up.

I love how surprised she looks when Jimmy pulls out the tickets to Hamlet.
Broadway'd.

It'd be nice to link a video that the rest of the world can actually view. Just saying.
Simgol Sep 30th 2009 5:38PM
You can find a link to a video "the rest of the world can actually view" at The Guild's webpage (I just did :P).

Dr Horrible? Please. That's just an extremely bad copy of Dr Steel.

I'd like to see Felicia Day too, but look at it this way: at least those of us who don't live in the States don't have to suffer through Fallon's awkward, smary, faux-hipster nerd routine.
