Around Azeroth: The abominations of desolation
Running old dungeons can be depressing. When you think about how many hours you spent wiping and slaving over content that you can now solo while alt-tabbing to read about Jon and Kate on TMZ, it feels somewhat anticlimatic. Killerbees of <Ambient> on Silvermoon stares forlornly at the remains of the formerly difficult abomination gauntlet before Baron Rivendare. You can't go home again.Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, gold seller ads with dead

Deadly. Off. Topic. Oct 2nd 2009 10:07AM
Is this before or after finding out the mount didn't drop?
Xirifus Oct 2nd 2009 10:28AM
I bet it's after.

"...slaving over content that you can now solo while alt-tabbing to read about Jon and Kate on TMZ"

Actually, it's nothing. Jon put out an order for TLC to cease production all together.
But uh...
*cough*
HOW 'BOUT THEM PATCH NOTES?!

It's not the dungeons that depresses you. Nor is it their lack of challenge for a single player.
It's the TMZ. That so many people are interested in something so moronic will surely get you down.

Matter of opinion. I don't find easily solo clearing an old dungeon to be depressing at all and quite the opposite.
Honestly, who is depressed about not wiping anymore?

It's a matter of perspective. Every old dungeon can be challenging or intriguing if you find a way to do it. Ran Heroic Sethekk Halls last night with friends. 1) 4 of us. 2) 2 of us still had 70's gear sets we love so we dragged them out and wore them 3) copious amounts of alcohol from Brewfest 4) a healer who had just respec'd healing "for something to do and to get invited to raids because everyone needs healing".
Nope, we didn't die and we had loads of fun and lots of laughter. Plus, one of the druids wanted to call the boss to get her heroic flight form, "the way it used to be done". Yeah, I'm now sitting on 252 Badges of Justice that I wish could be turned into something useful, but I got one more heroic done off my achievement list, she got her epic flight form and we had a great time. I still hate Ikiss at the end of Sethekk, but he's not such a problem anymore.
This would be before he finds out that the mount doesn't drop. All the abominations despawn when the doors open and the adds come out of the ziggernaut. I would wager, however, this is Killerbees 1,578th time tunning Strath and the mount still didn't drop.

Has to be one of the coolest looking weapons in the game, wasted on a crummy blue!
Killerbees Oct 2nd 2009 1:40PM
No, the mount did not drop, I don't know how many times I've been in that awful place.

I actually find i enjoy some aspects of doing old dungeons more than i appreciated them at the time. When actually doing a 5 man, I don't spend a whole lot of time looking at the scenery. Nowadays, I can stroll through Stratholme or Blackrock Depths and appreciate the insane attention to detail in the instances that I didn't consciously notice when I was trying to survive onslaughts of undead.
Gimmlette Oct 2nd 2009 2:41PM
Oh well, 1,557 more tries!
Gilgamesh Oct 2nd 2009 4:09PM
Patch 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 will cure all that with all ***NEW**** heroic versions of all old Azeroth dungeons. Much easier than making any new dungeons and saves the parent corporation a ton in development costs. Fear not citizens!

If only we could kill Jon and Kate...
They seem like the type of people you could slaughter over and over again without getting tired of it, mount or no mount.
