Patch 3.3 PTR: Undocumented Paladin changes

HOLY
Holy Shock/Holy Light/Blessing of Wisdom/Consecration/Exorcism/Greater Blessing of Wisdom/Holy Wrath/Flash of Light/Blessing of Wisdom: Mana cost of their lower ranks reduced.
While this is something that won't be noticed by those of you raiding Ulduar and the Argent Tournament, it should help out those trying to do Wailing Caverns or Scarlet Monastary as mana can sometimes be an issue at lower levels. As Holy Shock, Holy Light, and Flash of Light are all included, this should make it easier on those of you trying to level as an instance healer.
More after the break.
PROTECTION
Avenger's Shield/Holy Shield: The mana cost of their lower ranks reduced.
Having leveled as a protection paladin, it can be frustrating sometimes with mana problems of not enough attackers or not being able to keep Divine Plea active. Hopefully, this will help with that and allow the leveling paladin a little more leeway when using abilities. Also, the mana reduction for Consecrate mentioned above in the Holy tree is nice as that is a large resource drain even when you've got multiple attackers to help keep your mana up.
RETRIBUTION
Seal of Corruption: Deals [13% of AP + 6.5% of Spell Power] instead of [15% of AP + 7.8% of Spell Power]
While this might look like a 15% damage reduction on the skill according to Ghostcrawler, it isn't. Seal of Corruption's tooltip has been incorrect for a while and they're just fixing it. Seal of Vengeance, on the other hand, had the correct tooltip and didn't need to be changed.
Blessing of Might/Greater Blessing of Might/Hammer of Wrath: The mana cost of their lower ranks reduced.
The Hammer of Wrath part of this change will be fairly helpful while leveling. Otherwise, Blessing of Might usually shouldn't be enough of a mana sink that it causes problems. There is also a lack of any seals or judgements in the list. We've still got a couple months before we'll see 3.3.0 on the live realms, so it's possible more skills will be added to the list.
Overall, nothing all that exciting yet for Paladins on the PTR. Hopefully, we'll see something more interesting than tooltips and leveling skills. Also, some Holy tree love would be nice... maybe... please?

Sorry, I'm standing by my idea. Let's examine it more closely.
Paladin = Warrior Priest
Warrior = battle
Priest = res spells
Warrior + Priest = Battle Res
Give us the spell we always should have had.
JC_Icefox Oct 2nd 2009 11:00PM
Uh oh, Shamans have res spells too. Better give Pallies some totems.

Are the druids down rating this? She makes a good point now that druids can rez out of battle, why should they be the only ones with that spell?
But I one up this, make it so that both priests and paladins can battle rez. Any class that could rez should be able to also battle rez.
Jafari Oct 5th 2009 2:47PM
I don't see what all the nerdrage is about. Many class-specific abilities are being spread around these days. Anyone remember replenishment? Now, even mages bring that goodie.
BRez is useful (I have raided as a moonkin spec) once every TWENTY minutes. That means it's incredibly situational, and the long cooldown keeps it from being overpowered. More often than not, whatever killed the person the first time will just get them the next time after the rez.
To make it more paladin-like, it could be a channeled spell that can't be interrupted by the player, which transfers the paladin's life (all of it, so you need to coordinate some healing to the casting pally) to the dead person, and at the end of the channel, the other player comes back with however much hp the paladin had. 20 minute cooldown, situational as anything, and has a paladin feel to it.

So, i wouldn't mind having a battle rez, but if you give it to all pallies and everyone else that can rez, that idiotic. I mean come on, if everyone could brez, you wouldn't be looking to build your raids. If you give all other classes w/ rez a battle rez you might as well give us all multi-classing. then we can all be paladin-mages, or paladin-warlocks.. oo just give us a soul stone too while your at it blizz..
NO, jil, that was stoopid.
RetPallyJil Oct 27th 2009 12:24PM
Ah, another jealous non-paladin. Dance for me, it's funny :D
DavidGX Oct 2nd 2009 7:07PM
They should buff holy a bit.. and nerf the hell out of ret. Pallys are still far overpowered in pvp.
ash Oct 2nd 2009 7:08PM
Can you guys stop using the Tauren Paladin image. It makes me upchuck a little every time I see it.
catharsis80 Oct 2nd 2009 7:29PM
Ha. Agreed. I like what the playability of Tauren paladins seems like, but the sight of them in pally tier gear...lol.
niko Oct 2nd 2009 8:54PM
I dunno, i really like it.
/plans on making the belfadin a beefadin
Muse Oct 3rd 2009 1:46AM
"beefadin"
There came my daily laugh. Thank-you.
Holy Crop Oct 2nd 2009 7:41PM
For all QQers out there, you've finally gotten your wish. Maybe if you do some more complaining, they'll just nerf Paladins altogether.
Tug-a-lug Oct 3rd 2009 1:51AM
What?!? Nerf PALLYS?!!!! The most UN-played, LEAST appreciated class in the entire game that just completelty SUCKS at pvp even with their god boubles and Insta-Stuns? You've got be kidding me, why would Blizz ever nerf a class that so clearly is underperforming compared to every other class in the game???? Oh wait, you're talking about PALLYS...
Xiol Oct 2nd 2009 9:16PM
Not that I mean to be a QQing little bitch, but it's been made clear in the patch notes that pretty much all lower-rank spells are having their mana cost reduced, and tooltip corrections aren't exactly newsworthy in themselves.
Are we really going to see one of these no-substance articles per class? I'd really rather the WoW.com team work on more exciting content... Like an Android-based client. :p
Eagan Oct 2nd 2009 11:13PM
Man, people are quick to complain. Especially when they don't read.
Saying that, I'm not any better, but come on. Tooltip clarification =/= nerf.
Muse Oct 3rd 2009 1:46AM
It looks like we're off the radar. Hopefully it stays that way, yea?
Korbn Oct 3rd 2009 5:33PM
/wtb anything hunter related on patch 3.3
/wtb daniel back ...
christian_588 Oct 3rd 2009 1:12PM
/still waits for ret to make sense in pvp, sigh.. pvp as prot is fun in the meantime and im not talking about healing :)
JKWood Oct 3rd 2009 2:11PM
I wouldn't write articles for the majority of you whiners, either. Good grief!
Thanks for the article, Gregg, nice to see that we're getting touched (and in a good way.)
RetPallyJil Oct 10th 2009 11:03PM
Eh, let the druids cry. No one likes furries, anyway.
