Breakfast topic: Who inspired you to play what?

When it comes to other characters, though, I can usually point to someone or something else that inspired me to roll that alt. Big Red Kitty made me want to play a dwarf hunter (now level 67) with a Frostsaber Pride Watcher. This video made a tauren shaman look awesome, so now I've got one at 71. And it was World of Roguecraft, oddly enough, that made a male undead warlock (as opposed to rogue) look like it could be fun; the scene with the warlock and rogue taking a stroll around the Lordaeron ruins with the warlock's imp toddling beside him, for whatever reason, sold it for me. When I look around my list of alts, for each I can name something or someone who just made that particular race/class combination look cool. Who or what inspired you to play the races and classes you're playing right now?

My first char was a dwarf pally. Because initially I wanted to be a Mountain King from Warcraft 3, but when I saw you could be a pally (another one of my fav heroes from WC3) AND a dwarf that pretty much sealed the deal for me.
Then, when I rerolled with a friend, I picked rogue. I didn't know why, I just did. Rogue was the class I understood the least, and thus it was the most exciting for me. Turned out I made the right decision because rogue is the EXACT OPPOSITE of a pally. You don't heal, or buff, or do anything for anybody else, and that was definately a nice change of pace after playing a holy pally for so long.
Plus I abosolutely dominated in duels. I didn't get beat until sometime after lvl 40. The rogue is also my main now.

I've actually played nearly every class now up to a reasonable level that you could argue would give you a real taste for the style of said class. Back in the beginning of my WoW career I played a hunter. And I gotta say, mister BRK himself influenced my decision to stick with him and play him all the way to the formerly level 70 cap. Now-a-days I have an 80 dk, my 80 druid, an 80 shaman, a 74 pally, a 58 warrior, a 46 lock, and a 32 priest. The funny thing is though, that I didn't level any other these other characters until after BRK announced he was quitting his blog. I guess the lack of my hunter idol's comical words of wisdom made me feel a bit lost while playing my big red tauren and his big red dino. I float around between playing all these classes now without much reason to stick with any of them. There's just some people that make you really love a class and they inspire you to learn as much as you can. An unfortunately the absence of that person can also leave you hanging.
MISS U BRK

Well, I took the book that I got with the battle chest seriously. I read through the information given about the various races.
I love the Tolkien and Prattchet's take on Dwarven culture. I knew I wanted to play a hunter as I have 10 pets IRL. I was somewhat drawn to, "the defender of the innocent," aspect of Pally's but the second i hit /silly on my lil' red-headed dwarf I knew I'd found my toon.
I've never looked back. I don't ever want to play melee, now that i know the game. I'm even leveling another lil' hunter lady, exactly like my main and loving ever second of it.
BRK has certainly been a huge influence on making me a better hunter and miss his advice a LOT. (I had a pride watcher when I found BRK) Thank the Anvil we had him while we did!
So indirectly, you can thank Gimli, Gloin and Cheri Littlebottom for inspiring me to be a dwarf. :) Though I have to say I'm happy that Blizz decided to give us fem. dwarves sans-beard though. I'm a bit of a purist but NOT that much of a purist. :)
I've no wish to play anyone or anything else but a druid. While I was VERY attracted to the druid class and Tauren's as a culture I couldn't reconcile myself with the rest of the horde enough to play one. But Blizz is giving us Worgen druids so I'm in happy-land.
If you play a Tauren druid and this weird little red-headed hunter keeps hugging you, it's me. ;) I LUBS YOU!!! And I am on a pvp server and yes, this gets me killed a lot. ;)

Long time reader first time poster....
My friend was playing horde when the game first hit so a month latter when I rolled my main I knew it was gonna be horde.
My favorite movie of all time is the original b/w Night of the Living Dead. I also really liked using meat wagons and the general look/feel of the undead in war3. So race choice was obvious.
Then class was the last remaining factor. I loved my necro to pieces in Diablo 2. Undead have that sinister evil vibe...so I had, absolutely had to be a lock.
I feel a need to defend myself in advance; again, long time reader.
I've seen numerous posts, typically by the same 2 people in Garrosh threads, about how the horde is evil. Sylvanis is evil. Blah blah blah is evil.
I'm playing a fantasy video game where the most real life damage I could do is waste 3 minutes of someones' day (hell yeah pvp servers)....
I LIKE pretending to be evil; it's fun! Which is why GTA never features missions where you save kittens. Although I would if I got to shoot a few digital cops along the way.

Understood, pretend evil is... well in this pretend world, evil. I get it but when people try to make Sylvanas sound like a hero then I'll argue. :)

Oh and rolling a faction to play with a friend is a great reason to roll it, btw. I wish I had RL friends who played. I'm jealous. :)

Those many years ago when I was indecisive on what class I truly wanted was decided upon seeing someone do it so skillfully I try to uphold using the paladin in the same way. To the bst of it's abilities, and the best of the player's abilities.
I miss Zal'Gradis.

I absolutely loved Kael and the Blood Elves in the frozen throne. That is why I play them now eve though I don't really like where the story has taken them. After reading lots more into the lore, lately I've been wanting to Play a Draeni. And Paladins just look bad ass.

Well I choose Paladin as my first toon and a Death Knight as my second because of WCIII more over. Currently working on a Troll Shammy, and Tauren Druid, I was inspired to Shammy from WCIII as well, (Thrall), just I'm not a fan of Orc Customization, and I made a Druid because of watching so many in doing Heroics and Raids and seeing that they kinda kick ass.

I was motivated to roll a healing class due to the fact I had cancer at the time I started getting into warcraft. As that was after the release of TBC I had a resto shaman, but with the release of WoTLK I switched my main to a priest (disc/shadow).
Cancer is gone and I am 100% healthy. However, I still enjoy the healing and will sometimes switch to DPS for a change.
Were I to roll another class it would definitely be mainly for tanking. The temptation to roll a Paladin would be great as they can also heal. :)

I was strictly Alliance-only for about four years, until I was convinced to roll a Blood Elf Rogue by a stripper.
Deadly. Off. Topic. Oct 5th 2009 10:01AM
I initially wanted to play a priest as my main, but because my fiancee had decided to play one, I felt we needed variety and ended up choosing a hunter. Surprisingly enough that was very short lived because I wasn't happy with hunters at the time, and I very much wanted to be able to heal.
So I switched from a level 6 hunter to a human paladin and things just clicked. Paladin for me was the win.

I've loved videogames for a long time, but it was my roommate who got me to start playing in the first place. I was reluctant at first (WHY would I want to play a game where some 13 year old could come up and call me a noob?) but it looked like fun and the world was quite beautiful.
As I watched him play, way back when he was in Northshire, we watched the screen as this bright orange object streaked across the background, against the dark night. Probably nothing more than a rank 1 fireball, but it looked so powerful! He was playing a pally (and as low lvls, they didn't look particularly powerful . . .) so when we saw that, both of us said "WHAT was THAT?"
I decided that, if I ever did decide to play this game, I wanted to do THAT.
When I finally did decide to play, I thought I'd better be a bit more practical and really see if that's what I wanted to do. I found out that mages could do quite a bit of damage, but were squishy. In other games, I had mostly preferred to play sturdier kinds of characters, but I thought, well, this time, I wanted to give this a try.
But I don't think I would have decided so quickly what I class to try, had it not been for that fireball in Elwynn forest. :)

My friends were playing WOW for a year before I picked it up. (Like a crack habit, "No I won’t use it that much. Just on the weekends. Anyway) I saw a Lock riding by on the level 60 mount. Flames all a glow. I just fell in love with it. So I bought the game and rolled an undead rogue. WHAT? I know what you’re thinking, actually I don't because I don't know why myself. But my second character and now considered my main is a lock with the hot mount.
PS I grinded the quests/mats to summon the mount in Dire Maul I didn't get it handed to me by the Blizzard patch gods, but that is my cross to bear.

When i started to play Wow i was such a noob and didnt knew anyone who played. when i saw that rogues were among the options i became really happy and the choice was very simple. i cant help to love the villains in different stories, they can be so bad yet so easy to like.
and i rolled an orc since ive always loved them too.
after 2 years friends started playing and since they took alliance i switched over to a dwarf rogue. - it was hard at first, i used to be hardcore horde - but i also realised the people were friendlier in alliance witch was nice.
today both my orc and dwarf are close to 80, i also got some warrioralts but other then that other classes dotn even interessts me, im all roguematerial.
