My first toon I decided to stick with something basic so I went warrior, what's more basic than whacking things with a sword and board? For my 2nd toon I wanted to try to copy a lore character, so I was a night elf hunter, like Tyrande i thought. I find out later no, she's a priest, which I ended up rolling one later. I also rolled a blonde female human mage like Jaina.

I got over the copying lore characters idea, and decided to make one of every class and most of the races (or at least starting areas). so I went

Tauren druid
Undead warlock
human paladin
gnome rogue
NE priest
Dreaenai Shaman

When DKs became available, I went troll.
