I've been whining about being able to sort my characters for at least four years. I'm no coding wizard, but it doesn't seem like it should be too big of an issue? With 10 lvl 80's on one server my "main" and bank alt change on a weekly basis and it would be great to be able to move around and prioritize them. It's not enough to make me quit the game of course, but it would make me smile a bit =)

It could be something stupid like characters having different IDs depending on where they are in your list, sure it might sound like you'd just switch those and voila, but sometimes things just aren't as simple as they seem (Not saying this is the case though).I've been quite annoyed at that myself, I remember sometime in BC my characters actually seemed to get some sort of randomized order, and my beloved First wasn't first anymore..

Yep Character sorting needs to be an option. Client-side function would be fine, just won't maintain the order if you login from another machine. I'm sure we would have seen this already if we were able to mod the character selection screen. (there's an idea ;) )Being able to customize the background animation for each character (a few choices relating to that faction or maybe outland & northrend options for each faction) would be great. It's cosmetic but would be give you a bit of variation over the look the character has/RP-backstory value, etc.

I would imagine it has to be possible as quite a while back (2? 3 years?) after a patch as a side effect character order was randomised so what used to be at the top of my list got dropped somewhere else. I only vaguely remember it but I'm certain it happened but I honestly don't know if it was before or after BC. So if that can happen by accident it would seem it shouldn't cause to many problems if we were given the option to change them ourselves.

I've deleted characters because I didn't want them above others in the list. Not main characters... but alts in their 30's & 40's.
