Searching for the most popular server

Of course, even that can't be trusted -- those numbers are picked up from the site's addon, all within the last 30 days, and it could just be that WR has more info about more people on that server. But at the same time, I'd guess that Warcraft Realms' numbers are in the ballpark, as long as you're talking about Yankee Stadium. Whisperwind, Cenarion Circle, Stormrage, Moon Guard, and Proudmoore are all big servers, I can promise you anecdotally, while Laughing Skull, Blood Furnace, and Malorne are definitely at the other end of the spectrum. As for a most popular realm, there probably isn't one specifically (it changes periodically, if not even at different times of the day). But if your realm is near the top of Warcraft Realms' list, it's probably busier than the others.

Moon Guard's Goldshire Inn was merely a setback!

Dragonmaw might not be the highest populated realm per se, but I've never had any problem finding groups and it's always had a solid community. I'm happy that I transferred here from Darrowmere (bah!) so long ago.

I know that Proudmore is pretty damn packed, particularly on the Alliance side. I'm guessing people flock to that server because it's considered one of the more gay friendly servers and generally tends to have more intelligent adults and less immature young ass-hats per capita.

I find that census to be a bit hard to believe, honestly, for one main reason -- my server is listed as having an Alliance pop of 90% and a Horde pop of 10%, yet there have never been free Horde transfers available to it or free Alliance transfers off. 90/10 is a bit absurd. Maybe most of the Alliance players have multiple alts?
Hoggersbud Oct 4th 2009 12:22AM
Or maybe there are Alliance players who like running the addon, but not so much for the Horde?
Dreyja Oct 3rd 2009 11:40PM
I'm on a low population server and I think it's a good thing. Now if we could just not be outnumbered 8/1 by the Horde, it would be paradise. ;-p
Some would call it a, "Target Rich Environment." That would feel better if I actually believed in ganking. Either way, it's home.

There's no doubt that these stats are wrong. I'm on Earthen Ring, AIE, and the guild has over 4,000 members. According to this site, there are only 11.4k players, but only 2.2k Horde, total. This census is bunk.
Hoggersbud Oct 4th 2009 11:03AM
There are 25 results combined for the Horde and Alliance in the past 30 days. What would you expect? Start running the addon, get some friends to do it.
Then maybe with enough results you can have some idea as to whether or not the actual census is bunk, as opposed to it merely having a lack of information.

Band of Brothers? Cake? Birds of Prey? Blak Ogre Clan? My, oh my, whoever is the old-school Dunemaulian putting up that screenie!?
Marcosius Oct 4th 2009 5:47AM
So no-one noticed or cared to mention that Argent Dawn EU has the highest number of players according to that site? It says 36,825 _Characaters_ (remember, this does not mean players... The addon has no way of telling who's an alt or not.)
Seliena Oct 4th 2009 6:34AM
No doubt that Mazrigos is more popular, we got Turpster!
Aerie Oct 4th 2009 7:56AM
As mentioned above, according to warcraftrealms, my realm (EU-Argent Dawn) is the most populated in all of Europe and US. I find it a little hard to believe, and would put it down to the number of trolls who roll there every time their server goes down. Nearly 37,000 characters, I'm sure I've not seen that many in the 5 years or whatever I've been here...

I have been on Moon Guard since it was a new baby server, and it has gotten insanely huge. We got a reputation as "the best RP server on WoW" so along with all sorts of RPers of varying skill and dedication, you have a good amount of raiders, pvpers and all the others you'd find on a Normal server. It's been a while since I was met with a queue upon login, so I doubt we're at the top, but I have no doubt that we are one of the more popular...and populated servers.
Daubi Oct 4th 2009 9:34AM
Chogall, Malganis and Illidan US are extremely heavy Horde side. These servers have really serious raiding and have many 2200+ Arena teams. Alot of people transfer to them, regardless of the 1-2K person ques.
brucimus Oct 4th 2009 6:52PM
I face Cho'gall and Illidan Hordies all the time in the BG's they are nasty gy camping, backstabbing scumbags
They need to fix those servers
Gennifurfur Oct 4th 2009 10:45AM
All I know is that my server, Anvilmar, never gets mentioned anywhere, ever. According to that site, it's 58% Alliance, but I think it's probably closer to 65% in reality. That is just a guess though. (I'm Horde.) Horde side only has one raiding guild that is even somewhat respectable and I think most people lament the fact that they are on Anvilmar. As a casual, I don't mind it.

Just a shoutout to all my peepz on.... well, you can figure it out :P

I've been on Whisperwind since day 1. One of the first 20 servers in the game, we've had at least 5 or 6 different free transfers off of our server over the years. We had queues of several hundred nightly earlier this year and we also were allowed to suffer the instance unable to open problem for about 5 months. How many servers never had to deal with it or only say it occasionally? We saw it daily. 20 minutes at a stretch of trying to get an instance to open to constantly be rejected. This wouldn't happen if we didn't have a huge number of people trying to run stuff. We had one pop up on us for 10 man Ulduar last week even.
Are the numbers from warcraftrealms correct? Probably not, but that site showed up early in WoW's history and there were a large chunk of the folks on our server who seemed to get behind it. I know I used to use that addon. We still end up on High/Full pretty often and I was wondering toward the end of the instance problem if we weren't heading toward yet another free transfer. I have no doubt that WW is one of the most populated servers in the game. US or EU.
