"WoW players that weren't around for Onyxia 1.0 might not know about this pretty sweet trick from OutDPS."
As long as you don't pull aggro from your tank, this will work fine. If you do, GG, she resets and you start all over again.

So you post a link to a site advocating exploiting geometry to avoid boss mechanics?
It doesn't matter if it has been in since vanilla and never fixed, ALL methods to avoid boss mechanics unless explicitly sanctioned by Blizzard are potential exploits. I doubt Blizzard intended for ranged casters to stand on a ledge and trivialise an already trivial fight.
Anaughtybear Oct 7th 2009 4:00AM
It shouldn't continue to be an exploit if Blizzard knows about it. If it's left in the game for any length of time, it is not our problem, as they obviously don't care enough to patch it up. Any repercussions from using an "exploit" that developers are unwilling to fix are complete BS. If you find an easy way to get something done, good for you. All you have to do is play the game, not test it and enforce rules.

I would say its more of using your environment than an exploit... you are not avoiding boss mechanics as you can still be feared and killed up there... it simply limits the path you take when you do get feared

But you can't get hit by the floor. Thus avoiding a mechanic. It is the same as the many "tank stands on rock to avoid AoE" exploits that have happened in the past.

I think I'm going to try out the Caith UI.. I just returned to the game and I really don't want to go through the trouble of rebuilding my UI again and I really like it's minimalistic look

I recently came back and picked up a UI that's very similar to Caith. It's even more minimal, though and I absolutely love it. If you're looking for a minimalistic UI then look no further:

I haven't tried the new Ony, as I played a Dwarf Priest back in the old days, so I'm still sick of Ony.
But, that ledge was raid death back then. If Ony happened to target someone on it, she could not reach them. That meant she would evade bug, and gain a ton of health back. If you were not feared in Phase 3, you would gain aggro. If one of the shelf dwellers resisted the fear, they would screw the raid. I guess this is not a problem with Fear no longer causing loss of aggro?
If you happened to have Fear Ward, that meant you controlled who gained Ony aggro. Not that I ever used it to kill people who beat my loot rolls, or DPSers who were getting too big for their britches.

As a former Dwarven priest turned Draenei priest (/waggle) I support this message.

I tried to use minimalistic UIs, but...
Scorch, Blizzard, Living Bomb, FFB, Pyro, Fireblast, CoC, AE, IB, CS, MI, Spellsteal, Mana Shield, Frost Nova, CB+IV+trinkets macro, Blink, Evocation, Mana Gem, mana and hp potions, bandages - that's 21 buttons already, add buffs and mount and hearthstone...
TL:DR: I need more buttons than mini-UIs offer.

I visited the UI site that is linked in this story late last night. This morning my account was hacked. I do not visit unknown sites nor do I normally click links in these storys. This is the only thing different I have done, so I believe that is how I was hacked. Not real sure if that is possible.

Worldofraids is a legit site.. try using Firefox and Adblock Plus and No Script. Good ole IE just letting any crap in.
Gratz.

According to this forum post I found whilst trying to configure the damnable UI it would appear that it does contain a keylogger;

I've changed my password, but I'm gonna be very unhappy if I am hacked :(

A pally whining about spell haste...
Big surprise.
