Tonight, after Trials of the Grand Crusader (four down, bug to go) we decided to hop onto some alts, which led to back to back TotC 10 on my DK and Shaman. Then back to back Ony 10, also on the DK and Shaman. And because I'd spent hours in TotGC 25 on my warrior before that, by the end of the night, I had no idea what class abilities I had anymore. Between popping
Army of the Dead when they called for
Heroism (it's bound to the same key) to trying desperately to use
Chains of Ice when asked to
Frost Shock the Ret Pally, I was in
rare form. And it wasn't just me, either: the druid healer is usually a mage, the warlock raids as a priest, and the holy paladin healing the second Ony attempt has something like 10 alts at 80. I'm surprised he even knows where he is. We got it all done, mind you, but you can really tell the difference in smoothness between our mains and our alts, even as well geared as the alts often are.
So now I put it to you, gentle readers. Do you ever suffer from class bleedover? Are you ever on your druid finding yourself mashing the
Consecration button, or on your Mage trying to use
Hymn of Hope? Or do you find it easy to keep it all straight?

I don't know what you're talking about; I have NEVER tried to refresh Lightning Shield on my rogue...

Whenever I play other classes, It always feels like there should be an orb spinning around me lol.

This. The only thing that really, really gets me is that after raiding on my resto shammy I have a compulsion to hit the Water Shield button every three minutes or so, even on my priest/druid/pally. I really need to just have a "standard self-buff" button.
Mostly though I keep similar abilities in the same place (Innervate, Hymn of Hope, Divine Plea, Mana Tide Totem) (Flash Heal, Flash of Light, LHW, Nourish) and so on... but it occurs to me I could probably be better about that. Apart from the compulsive need to Water Shield, though, I seem to be pretty good about switching contexts, which might be related to the fact that all my 80s are healers and so there's a decent amount of overlap.

That's right, nothing to mess up - they all die the same during the lag in WG.
Eternauta Oct 9th 2009 11:37AM
I do the same as Agnoster xD

The battle shout on my holy priest just doesn't seem to boost the groups DPS.....
Deathgodryuk Oct 9th 2009 1:42PM
and on the flip-side my Holy Paladin is really bad at using his Sinister Strike ability...

For some strange reason, my warrior refuses to change into a cat whenever I press F. :/
Tae Oct 9th 2009 8:11AM
I find it kinda easy you know, with my shaman i have no problems, maybe just the DK, my main is a pally so...

Oh yes, I occasionally mess it up. My mage tries to lifetap, my priest tries to blink, etc.
I think the funniest one recently wasn't raiding, it was solo - I have one keybind that's generally the "ohcrap" button, it's slowfall on my mage and levitate on my priest. So recently I took the portal from Dalaran to Stormwind, ran out of the portal room and down the inside ramp, and as is my usual habit as I hit the top of the outside ramp, went to hit slowfall and then leap off.
Except I was on my hunter. So he dramatically feigned death at the top of the ramp.
We've been joking about how scary and dangerous that ramp must be since then.
Rakah Oct 9th 2009 8:18AM
yeah trying to lifetap as another caster xD
another one is subconsiously pressing my button for hunters mark after i've switched to an alt.
rawrawrawr Oct 9th 2009 9:28AM
I try to life tap all the time on my Priest, and after playing my Priest for a while, i spend the 5 seconds every boss fight trying to heal the tank when playing my Warlock.
I shouldn't have class identity issues, though, my guild spends every raid reminding me that I'm a Warlock, not a tank, and thus, shouldn't have aggro.
Corey Oct 9th 2009 10:13AM
I try to blink on all my alts.
Caelys Oct 9th 2009 5:18PM
When I was mass leveling my mage, I was happily chugging along - except I kept trying to cast shield on myself from leveling my priest. And whatever character I was leveling after my mage... kept trying to blink!
I do have dispels set up in the same spot for my priest and my paladin at least. Although.. that's the same keybind for Misdirect on my hunter... one of these days I'm going to attempt to dispel someone on my hunter and manage to kill them. >_>

I definitely need to switch modes often as I have so many alts. Presently my Druid (main) and my Death Knight, Hunter, Mage and Shaman are all level 80. My Rogue just dinged level 71 on her way to 80 soon as well. In Cataclysm I plan to finally reroll and level my Priest, Warlock and Warrior to round out the "one of every class" mix.
When I'm switching not only between Druid forms for different roles but alts as well it gets a little crazy at times.
themightysven Oct 9th 2009 8:12AM
Paladin?
kittytrainer Oct 9th 2009 12:51PM
they are not really a class
Terethall Oct 9th 2009 5:33PM
Paladins are ALREADY one of every class. So obviously they would be redundant.
Nathanyel Oct 9th 2009 8:07AM
I try to blink on my non-mage characters all the time.
Markainion Oct 9th 2009 8:53AM
That is why your going have to play Goblin, every class will have a Blink:)
