I don't necessarily agree with everything we highlight here on WoW.com, but just because a post seems wrong doesn't mean it isn't interesting to talk about. Such is the case
with Loregy's latest post -- they suggest that after all is said and done, the much beloved (
whoops, not) Garrosh Hellscream will end up at the wrong end of our weapons. They say that
the big fight between Garrosh and Thrall (rudely interrupted by the
Wrath of the Lich King) means that Garrosh is in for a whooping at some future point. Matt basically said as much in his post a while back -- Garrosh is a flawed hero, to say the least, and it's likely that sometime here, those flaws are going to catch up with him, possibly in the form of us players.
Now of course whether that's true or not is an entirely different question from whether that's what you want or not. Kisirani has already said that
there are sides of Garrosh we haven't seen yet, and Blizzard could go either way with him -- either put him through some troubles and teach him to learn some lessons (right now
the guy is pretty dumb), or do what Loregy is suggesting and turn him into a raid boss (wouldn't be
the first faction leader with such a fate, to be honest). Personally, I think Garrosh is headed for a little redemption -- all he really needs, to my mind, is a little experience and humility, and, as I understand it, war can teach those pretty well.

Here's to hoping that Thrall helps us kick Garrosh in the jibblies.
*cheers*

This is what in the industry they call "fan service". That is, giving your fans what they want, if it makes sense or not.
They can contrive some reason, or not. I don't care. Garrosh is a terrible character. A raid where we kill him would automatically become the best content Blizzard has ever made.
If Thrall is stepping down, Saurfang should be the Warchief. That guy is both a badass AND has a brain, not to mention motiviations more complicated then "rawrr, Garrosh smash!"
Dragon Oct 9th 2009 12:15PM
Now if Garrosh was truly a "terrible character" would he really invoke this much hatred/feeling in his audience? Garrosh isn't a terrible character that needs to be written out, but a Well written new character that we all need to be patient and see how his story unfolds. Just because he's a jackass doesn't mean he's a terrible character. Not all characters will give you your jollies...

Such hate on Garrosh, I personally enjoy his follies and would proudly stand tall next to him in battle. The Warsong clan knows how to get things done as we all have seen in the past, and it seems they are making Garrosh more and more like Grom. Lets not forget Grom wasn't a likable character in the story line, however, he made up for his prior rash attitude by the end of his story.
Fact is Thrall hasn't the heart for PVP anymore, and WoW is slowly turning into a hardcore PVP gaming experience (ToC anyone?). Garrosh makes up for that lack of heart.

I agree! he and Varian Wrynn may be arrogant, racist, warmongering idiots, but damn if it isn't buckets of fun watching them go at it. it's like George W. vs. Kim Jong Il up in here. I really like the political overtones that Warcraft's starting to develop. you don't see enough games with smart socio-political commentary and I applaud Metzen and the rest of the Warcraft team for taking the risks necessary to bring us to the point we're currently at, lore-wise.

dang, that was supposed to be in reply to Dragon's comment. that's what I get for browsing the internetz while I'm supposed to be at work :V

Of course he would turn to the Legion, leading a new breed of fel orcs if he is rejected by the horde. He is just that reckless.

What I think everyone forgets in the whole, "We need Garrosh because we need War in WARcraft," is this: We have been fighting a war, in fact multiple wars, since WoW came out. It's just that until post Wrathgate, these wars haven't technically been with each other. In vanilla we fought a war against Elder Gods, their worshipers, as well as against the scourge in the form of Kel'Thuzad in Naxx. In BC, we fought another two front war against the Legion, and Illidan. We went back through the Dark Portal to take that fight to our enemies. Now in Wrath, we are fighting a war against the Scourge, and the Old Gods again. Only now we've also added open warfare between the Horde and the Alliance. In addition to all this, there have been a host of minor conflicts/wars against various races in the worlds, be it centaur, arrakoa, or magnataur.
To sum it up, we've been fighting plenty of wars, and I think it's a good thing that at least for awhile, the races of Azeroth were getting their heads out of their asses, and not fighting each other.
So ya, lets beat up Garrosh, and Varian too while we're at it.
Thrall is not a relic, he's the future.

Yes. The whole "It's world of WARcraft" thing has been repeated to death, and it's starting to make me roll my eyes whenever I see it, because when have we not been at war in this game? Every time someone brings up the radical idea of the NPCs maybe trying to act intelligent, there's always two or three people popping out with "It's World of WARcraft, not World of Hug-a-Fuzzy-Bunnycraft" or similar.
Here. It's World of WarCRAFT, not World of War-For-No-Good-Reason-Running-Shrieking-at-Each-Other-With-Pointed-Sticks-and-Screw-Tactics-and-Diplomacy.

>I think if Garrosh leads the Horde, we'll finally see people transferring back from Horde to >Alliance, just to kill him.
Dissapont. I think we will see people transferring back from Alliance to Horde just to really kick some asses xD
Im thinking rerolling my Tauren shamy into Orc xDDD
Garrosh, WE ALL LOVE YOU!!

If lvling didn't take so much time I would be tempted to play an alliance toon again to kill garroish. I really can't stand the guy, he thinks just because his daddy was Grom that instantly makes him some sort of a tough guy lol I really hope Surafang or Thrall come back and assisainate him or send him off in chains as a traitor.
Babalus Oct 9th 2009 3:28PM
I'd very much prefer Thrall beating him into a jelly rather than us, raiding the spoiled brat. He's not worthy of being a boss tbh
Guildenstern Oct 9th 2009 5:28PM
Stop trying to shove the 'Nu srsly, Garrosh might be OK gaiz11!1!' narrative down our throats. Garrosh will be a total disaster for the Horde, and moreover, we hate him.
Thrall is our Warchief, not this little pissant granny's boy.
alpha5099 Oct 9th 2009 7:08PM
The more and more I think about, the more excited I am about Garrosh as the new Warchief. If there's one thing I hate in fiction, it's stagnation. Nothing is sacred if shaking things up makes for interesting stories. Garrosh is going to bring so much strife and chaos to the game. I can't wait.
Aubrecia Oct 9th 2009 8:44PM
The funny thing is, to me, that on an alt I just did the questline in HFP where you discover the Mag'har. When you take news of them back to Thrall, he says something along the lines of, "If Hellscream is anything like his father, then making contact with him will bring about a new age for the Horde."
If only you knew what kind of age back then, Thrall. If only you knew.

an unauthorized raid chat log of why garrosh is a raid boss:
Garrosh: COMRADES!!! WE HAVE DEFEATED THE LICH KING, AND HAVE PROVEN THAT ORCS ARE THE GREATEST RACE OF ALL!!! LOK'TAR OGAR!!!
Thrall: Yes, comrades, today is a day of celebration for the free peoples of azeroth. Perhaps it is this day that the horde and alliance shall finally come together as one!
Garrosh: lol dood, stfu with the RP crap, and lets just get the loot out of the way.
Saurfang: Ok, so he dropped an epic shaman helm and-
Garrosh: DIBS ON HELMET!!!
Thrall: um... what? your a warrior
Garrosh: yeah, and i need it for my spell pwr genious, duh!
Thrall: /facepalm
Jaina: lets just get this over with thrall, we have a date in a few hours and i havent even taken a shower yet.
Saurfang: Oh, lucky us! He dropped [Shadowmourne]. Since nobody else has wep skill besides me, is it ok if i have it?
Garrosh: FOOL!!!! YOU DARE MAKE A DISGRACE OF THE HORDE WITH YOUR ALLIANCE FOOLISHNESS??!!!??? LOK'TAR OGAR!!!!
Thrall: and u told me to stop with that RP crap?
Saurfang: oh, so now im the disgrace? you just crossed the wrong high overlord buddy...
Saurfang casts ultra mega kick that sends people back to nagrand to the point that they go into a coma forever because of the impact.
Garrosh: ILL GET U GUYS NEXT TIMEEEEEEEEEE...
Saurfang: hey, lol, left his axes here.
Saurfang disenchants Garrosh's War Axes
Saurfang recieves loot [Cataclysm BETA key]
Thrall: hey saurfang, arent you a BS/miner?
Saurfang: yeah, why?
Shade Oct 10th 2009 12:43AM
Oh please let us kill him. And then stick Vol'jin in there to take over.
Abad Oct 12th 2009 3:59PM
Garrosh and Varian Wrynn fall in love and Thrall takes over once again.. The End... lol
