While we have
covered the fact that new totems are coming out for orcs and trolls in
patch 3.3 so that the taurens don't have to keep sharing with everyone. We've also mentioned the fact that dwarf totems have been added into the PTR files for when
Cataclysm hits. At the time, we only had the
front view images from
MMO-Champion. This caused a bit of an issue with the Dwarf totems as it's hard to distinguish what exactly they're supposed to look like without a side view. So, after some datamining and image editing of our own, we've put together a little gallery of the new totems for you all to enjoy.
Patch 3.3 is the last major patch of
Wrath of the Lich King. With the new Icecrown Citadel 5-man dungeons and 10/25-man raid arriving soon, patch 3.3 will deal the final blow to the Arthas.

The old totems that Trolls and Orcs are using are the Tauren totems. Every race is just getting their own totem now.

new totems are higher resolution than old totems, which leaves tauren shamans drowning in their own QQ

That would imply they dont update the Tauren totems, which is highly doubtful.
BTW, MMOchamp had a video of the dwarven totems, and they look much better than in these pics.

MMO Champion has a video of the Dwarf totems in action, with the "elemental" effects and all. Personally I think they look great.
Only if I could have a Dwarf Shaman now!

Hopefully they'll diversify the Dwarf and Orc totems to match the Troll totems' variety. While they're at it, give the Tauren unique totems too. I wouldn't even mind if they simply upgraded the polygon count and texture quality on the existing "Tauren totem". That little wooden stick would look nice in high rez/polygon form. :)

That's the thing that really disappointed me. After seeing the awesome new troll totems, which differentiate by more than what color glow they have, it was a bit of a letdown to see that everyone else will still have the same one totem reduxed with a different glowy bit. Granted, with so many troll-style totems already in the game, I'm sure it was less of an added onus to do this little something extra for the trolls than it would be for, say, the dwarves. But that won't stop me from being jealous...

I'm somewhat disappointed in the Orcs and Dwarf totems.
While I understand why they gave Orcs new totems, it seems weird, considering that lorewise, the New Horde Orcs were taught shamanism by the Tauren.
And the Dwarf Totems should have been Beer Kegs.

Why is this beer keg idea so appealing to everyone? I don't get it at all.
I understand that brewing ales is definitely a big part of Dwatf culture, but is has absolutely nothing to do with Shamanism, whereas Blizzard's totems reflect Wildhammer culture.
Maybe people want beer keg totems because of the lore of dwarves brewing ale, but I suspect it's more just a juvenile "lolbeerlol". Which is just silly.
I, for one, am glad that Blizzard clearly put a lot of time and care into the new totem designs.

when i think dwarf shaman, I think of the quest where you get to control the 5 iron dwarf shamans which was an obvious shoutout at multi-boxing. So when it comes to the totems, i was hoping for something black and blue that reflected the iron dwarfs more with a touch of Ironforge thrown in there to make it more... WoW ... but just a weird hammer with wings and a feather? Time for some fans to start pumping out the fan art :D it's not too late to change their minds

They're based off the Wildhammer clan, a group of Dwarves who are part of the Alliance and practice Shamanism.
