Breakfast Topic: The Holy Grail

When we posted the rumor that Gnomeregan would finally be retaken, I thought of this -- Gnomeregan has been, since the beginning of the game, a place that's generally off-limits to lore and change. The Gnomes are pretty much defined by not having a city, and if they were actually to take back and reclaim their home city, Ironforge wouldn't be the same, and once you've messed with Ironforge, then WoW, to me, is fundamentally changed. Same thing if they ever include cross-faction communication -- this game is so defined from the core as a game with two factions separate from each other that if they ever did allow us to speak across factions, it'd be a different game. Not necessarily a bad game, not that I'd quit, but the game's so defined by that, in my mind, that if it ever actually happened, we'd end up on a whole other quest. So what do you think: what's WoW's Holy Grail?

To kill any and every major name in Warcraft lore? ..or maybe to get more epics

That reminded me of the oldschool attitude of the great white hunter.. to explore, find new species, and kill them all to save as trophies. Not that there's anything wrong with that in a game, of course!

I think it's quite the opposite of killing everything, actually. I'm pretty sure about this:
The holy grail of WoW is peace.
It's all about WARcraft, and with peace, there would no longer be war. Like Mike said, if players could communicate cross-faction, players might not kill each other as much any more. And having found peace, the Horde and Alliance might finally unite and destroy the evils that plague Azeroth. Thus, peace between the factions would only create more peace. Peace has to be the ultimate holy grail of WoW; I can't imagine anything that could cause greater change.

it's from South Park, for those of you that don't watch TV.
SaintStryfe Oct 10th 2009 4:22PM
just before BC launched, Blizz collaborated with the guys who make South Park to make an episode about the game. In the episode, the boys enjoy WoW but are suddenly being attacked and killed by a person who has played so much, he can actually kill GMs. It is determined that the player (Who is a hyper-stereotypical MMO player - white, balding, overweight, barely moves) must have no life what so ever, and the question is asked, "How Do You Kill That Which Has No Life?" Eventually, the games programmers track down the Boys, who mount a defense against the rogue player, and they give them a special item which drains his Mana and lets the boys defeat him.

Anaughtybear, I think the only tears your comment engendered were tears of boredom over your beating that particular memory of a grease spot where rumor had it a dead horse might have been once.
