Around Azeroth: A cause to remember
Grizzleton writes that his guild, Ex Cinis Cineris of Farstriders, has changed its tabard to pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. "One of the guild's officers is a breast cancer survivor still in treatment, and many other guild members and their loved ones have had experiences with this disease. In the public forum on the Ex Cinis Cineris website is a very helpful thread dealing with this issue. As the aforementioned officer put it when the guild rallied behind supporting this cause, "We may be gamers and geeks, but we have hearts!" For their first event, the guild formed a pink ribbon with their avatars on the Stormwind Harbor steps. ECC has also planned a Farstriders serverwide Pink event for Friday October 16th in Stormwind Harbor. Check the Blizzard Farstriders forum for details."Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, gold seller ads with dead

As someone whose mother passed due to breast cancer, I applaud these WoW players. It shows me a side of the Warcraft population that I haven't seen in quite some time. Thank you.

I'm shocked that ribbon came out so well... sometimes it's hard to get that many people into position ;)
/love ECC!

A screenshot like this would be impressive, even if the ribbon wasn't associated with Breast Cancer awareness, due to how well the shape came out.
The fact that it's for such a worthy cause, honestly, has brought a tear to my eye.

Saw this on the sidebar yesterday before this post. Really amazing how perfect the ribbon looks

Simply awesome! The ribbon looks amazing. I wonder if Blizzard could have an in game event, like walking from Booty Bay to Silvermoon City or something.

Awesome to see that people can step back and realize the big picture of the world around them. I applaud ECC - very classy!

A really noble cause, I /salute ECC!
Think I'm gonna try get my guild to change our tabard to pink for the month too.
Call me a copy cat, but I just think it's a really great idea.
Grizzleton Oct 11th 2009 11:34AM
Copy away! It'd be great to see all the realms pick this up and run with it!

of all the diseases that we are plagued by, this is by far the most indiscriminate. i had a grandmother who smoked a bit in her life, an cancer took her. another grandmother who never drank, never smoked was taken aswell.
i too applaud these people, they may not be horde but this was something special.
bigsampson Oct 11th 2009 2:22PM
BREAST CANCER is not caused by smoking .....its a crappy disease and my condolonces.
the problem i have is that the money that is made from Breast cancer awareness donations do not incorporate all forms of cancers...there are over 50 types of cancers yet the most awareness goes to breast cancer do to the money that they have to market there cause.
I really think that the American institute for Cancer Research needs to make the month more of a all around cancer awareness month...kinda biased on where the money for there research goes to. I appluad the guild for doing this cause it does open up the eyes for millions but it is kinda one sided and takes away from the awareness of other forms of cancer.

Stuff like that redeems my faith in players. These huge games have a way of bringing together lots of people with shared concerns and it's nice to see them working together for something worth remembering.
Reminds me of the day that Christopher Reeve died, I was playing City of Heroes at the time, and dozens of people changed their character costumes to red, yellow, and blue, or just came as they were, set up in front of the city hall and did /salute for hours.

Very nice tribute that hits close to home for so many of us.
Breast cancer can go straight to hell for robbing me of my grandmother. She died in 1979, at age 54. I was two years old.

/salute Ex Cinis Cineris
I lost a friend nearly five years ago to melanoma, a different kind of cancer, so this sort of thing is great to see.
