It's not that hard to understand if you look at it from the perspective of the person you're "only trying to help":

Me: "Hey, this is fun, I might not be doing top DPS but at least I'm contributing and enjoying myself."
Other player: "Stop, you're having fun WRONG."

It also doesn't help that, frankly, people think they're allowed to be as obnoxious as possible in the name of "helping out": "lol, why the f$%^ are u running w/ such a jacked up spec?" "omg that dagger sux, go get a new one"
