Phat Loot Phriday: The Mischief Maker

Name: The Mischief Maker (Wowhead, Thottbot, Armory)
Type: Uncommon Consumable
Damage/Speed: N/A
Attributes:
- It's a wand (though not really -- it's just an item you right-click to use up) that will sheep any friendly player or NPC, and unfortunately only in Dalaran. In other words, it's a party favor -- there's no real use to it, but if you happen to see your buddy wandering around Dalaran, you can sheep them for 15 seconds, and then wait for their "wtf?!" to roll in on guild chat.
- It doesn't work on shapeshifted players at all, nor does it apparently work on game-sensitive NPCs like flight masters or vendors.
- And most disappointing of all, it doesn't actually work on Minigob Manabonk. Which is a bummer (as you can read below, that would be the perfect revenge).
- But as a few seconds of amusement, it does what it's supposed to.
Cheap? Silly? Guess what: life is like that sometimes. It's too bad there are all the limitations on this item, though. Maybe we haven't seen the last of Manabonk -- like Griftah (and subsequently Asric and Jadaar), I think he's a few potential appearances away from becoming a fan favorite. We just hope the next mischief he comes up with is a little more mischievous.
Getting Rid of It: Use it. As a consumable, it doesn't sell back to vendors at all, and it won't disenchant, either. So find a friend (or same faction enemy), sheep them, and run away. Giggling, of course.

Heh, nifty. Never seen Manabonk myself.

I got sheeped in Dalaran one day a few weeks ago as I was going up to the landing. I was confused and went to my combat log to figure out how a horde sheeped me in Dal. I went on my way still confused and a bit mad that I somehow got sheeped in a "safe zone".
Shortly after this wand shows up and it all makes sense. I wish this happened more often. I would love to be able to sheep multiple people at the same time. Or better yet make it usable in all major cities.

I was sheeped of all places inside The Horde Battlemaster area just as I exited a AB. and heard a gnome laugh. Ofc i was like "WTF? Alliance "haxxor" in here? Or spell carried over from AB?" Took me a while to realize what happened.
When I got the wand in the mail after some time, I used it on a tauren mounted on his protodrake in front of the bank, which I somehow find very annoying. I was very sad as its a one time use item only.

funny, i got manabonked RIGHT before this post came up :D

I was under the impression that Manabonking someone also caused them to receive their own mischeif maker in the mail.
Can anyone confirm/deny?

A friend of mine has used the Mischief Maker on me a couple times, but I've never received one in the mail afterward.

got it totally random one day, sheeped a guy who was afk showing off his bronze drake at dalaran's fountain... hate those guys
Kakistocracy Oct 16th 2009 7:18PM
People show those off still?

Hmm yes, I recently (just before the fire festival) re-rolled another DK as my new main, I just wasn't feeling right with my other DK that I rolled on launch, don't ask me why.
SO I am steadily gearing her up for HCs and lo and behold, a bronze drake drops.
This was like a mega-nerdgasm for me, so I whispered a small prayer, hoping I would win the item.
Everyone else had passed, I won, everybody shrugged it off and continued to mal'ganis while I squeeled.
Yes I finally had a cool epic-flyer..... BUT ITS NOT COOL ANYMORE!!!
WHY GOD WHY?!?!

Yes, Manabonk sends it to you after he's sheeped you. :) I've gotten in twice and it is so much fun to sheep a friend.
Ayiano Oct 16th 2009 6:35PM
I got it twice in two days. The first time, I was standing in the bank, next thing I know I'm a sheep. :P
The second time, I was all alone in the bank (it was late at night) when I saw Minigob walk in. My immediate thought was "Aww..c$^@ " . Pretty fun to use it on an unsuspecting friend though. :P
As he's a gnome NPC, it's possible he might frequent the Alliance side more, as I encountered him both times in the bank next to the Alliance inn late at night.

So my druid should hang out in dalaran in caster form huh? Immune to polymorph = no wand? I wants meh wand!
peagle Oct 16th 2009 9:53PM
If Minigob tries to sheep you and you're immune for whatever reason you still get a wand in the mail.

I actually got manabonked today when AFK'ed in front of the sewers bank. Discovered it because I recieved this item. Now only to find someone to use it on...
Kakistocracy Oct 16th 2009 7:19PM
I clearly don't spend enough time sitting around in Dalaran as I have never seen him.

I love this item. It's adorable. The only thing I wish is that it was a permanent item, rather than a consumable. I mean, obviously, the same limitations would stand and it would need some sort of cooldown. Say, five minutes or so? But, I can't bring myself to use mine. It's just too cool. I wanna save it, since I know that if I use it, that's it. And, I just might not ever get one again.
Really awesome item and idea. I just love watching it happen to other people, too. I know it's coming, when I see him wandering around and then bam! Someone gets sheeped. I've found that it often happens to those who are most still. Whether just idle or afk, it seems like those folks get targeted most. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

Sadly, I wasted this on an AFK player because I thought it was re-usable...

I guess I'll be racking up the /played while I wait for this item; it's just too cool.

I've been manabonked 4 times on two different characters. I have yet to actually see it happen, since I'm always AFK! I just get the wand in my mail.
