Patch 3.3 PTR: Arctic Fur is less annoying, vendor purchased

If you've been farming and selling Arctic Furs, I suppose you might be a bit bummed that your cash cow is going away, but for the most part I think most of us are pretty happy with it. For example, if you're like yours truly, you have a stack of 20 Frozen Orbs sitting in the bank just begging to be made into something useful if you could just skin more than 1 Arctic fur every couple months. Then again, at 60 total Borean Leathers before you can actually buy one, you'll still have to put in some overtime with the skinning knife.
Overall, though, this is one more nice little thing for professionals (and any tanks or physical DPS upgrading to tier 9 or tier 10 legs) to get excited about in Patch 3.3.

85? 7-8g per peace, how about that? IT would make a price per stack as much as 160g.
Your server has to many circumstance'o'matic machines with all those cheap, unwanted, leftover skin laying around.

Great change IMO
Leveling two skinners from 70-80 I got about 20 furs off one character (stopped at 78 to farm a LOT of leather in SB for armour), and the second I got 4. 4 furs from 10 levels, skinning everything I killed, and 3 of those I had before 72!
They have a 100% drop from some raids, but nice to see them being more reliable to get.. after all, 10 heavy borean leather is still 60 odd kills, nothing to sneeze at.

This will be a welcome change - my hunter hasn't managed to skin a fur for ages.

Great change. When I first started leveling in Northrend, I got a a bunch. Now, I haven't gotten any in at least a month. It's like they don't exist at all. This is much more reasonable than constantly changing the drop rate and screwing everyone over who wants to get a pattern made/level lw.

Normally I'm ok with them making things easier. I'm all for the badge changes but making artic fur purchasable seems off to me.
Will titanium ore become a vendor item to?
I'm not so for it.

They might try something like titansteel eventually, but... I highly doubt titanium ore o.o It's easy to get Titanium ore, especially out in Wintergrasp.

Furs are a LOT harder to get then titanium.
You can literally go months without seeing one, even while actively farming. If you want titanium go fly round SB or wintergrasp for a few hours - you'll get some.
Plus remember the conversation rate here.. this would be like trading 60 saronite ore for a single titanium - hardly a small amount.

I think months without getting a fur is an overstatement. I literally farm for 30mins-1 hour every couple days and average 2 furs each time. They really aren't that rare. Also if you run toc 10 and 25 each week you can get up to 4 just from that (i typically get at least 2 of the possible 4)

You might be correct in saying 60 leather is to 60 saronite, but remember that arctic fur is useful on its own as a material and a currency. At least for jcs, a single titanium ore is all but useless. It takes five ore to do one prospect and you only MIGHT get a titanium powder from it, which you need 10 of to purchase a single jc token.

I used to pull down Arctic Fur by the buttload in Storm Peaks, but I haven't snagged one in months.

Yeah same but thing is 10 heavy borean leather goes for more than furs on my server at the minute anyway so this will only increase the cost of the fur whether vendor bought or AH bought but i suppose its nice for leatherworker/skinner

Hmm, so if ArcticFur is equivalent to Borean Leather, why is still in a game?
I think simpler would be to remove it from the game and add that 10xBorean Leather cost to all recipies.

It's unlikely they will make mobs randomly drop 6 Heavy Boreans to compensate for the removal of arctic fur. This is a good change, don't over think it.
