WoW Moviewatch: Ashes to Ashes
I'm a big fan of roleplay inspired videos. They not only give us a little bit of insight to how RPers play the game, but also tend to use lore in some interesting ways. And, if nothing else, roleplay videos really help bring some panache and style into our everyday escapsim.
Today's movie is Tales of Icecrown Part 3 -- Ashes to Ashes. You may not be familiar with Tales of Icecrown part one and part two, but I don't think that's entirely necessary to enjoy this installment. The story is a quick snippet about a man becoming a Death Knight. That's not exactly new to the world of Wrath roleplay, but the video still does a pretty good job of framing the narrative.
This also gives hints about a new roleplay alliance (with a little "a'), or maybe it's hinting at a guild being formed. But the idea of the Knights of the Ebone Blade and the Argent Crusade forming a specific new covenant is a pretty cool idea. And, I admit, I like the name Ashen Verdict. It sounds all gritty and raw, and definitely seems like a group ready to go take on Arthas.

You do realise this was already in the game, and not just their idea (although I would join a guild like that)?

I believe the Ashen Verdict is what Blizzard themselves have stated as being a coalition between the Ebon Blade and the Argent Crusade with the goal to take Arthas down. I don't think the movie-creator uses it to refer to a forming guild.

very cool video. very well made. not over done, not voice acting, just great scenery, and tasteful titling. ive always wanted to get into rp.

I loved the video itself. -Especially- that it had no voice acting, as I usually think that's a bad choice to go for. Very cinematic, dreamy type of sequence... makes me want to get into machinima creation myself if I could just find the tools for it.
Unrelated note and nothing to do with the creator of this video (which was quality)... I really hate the Ashen Verdict idea. The Ebon Blade and the Argent Crusade are completely at odds in methods, it really bothers me to think that they've just "found" some mythical middle ground that lets them be led jointly. Their uneasy alliance idea always sat better to me.

Do WoW. com writers not even read their own website? The Ashen Verdict is not fan made, it's the Ebon Blade and Argent Crusade combining for the IceCrown raid. It's an actually faction being put into the game. I thought it was a joke when I first read that he thought it was the movie makers idea and/or a new guild.

Whats the name of the song used first in this movie? The ending doesn't say exactly which one, it just states that its a WOTLK or WC3 OST.
