The Queue: Image unrelated

Yep. The title says it all. If you hoped, even for a moment, that the image on today's edition of The Queue at all reflected the content within, you're in for disappointment. Also, therapy of some sort.
Cronum asked...
"I have the mobile authenticator on my iPhone, but I need to send it in for repairs. Can I buy the regular authenticator and use that while my phone is gone?"
The short answer is yes, you can, but make sure you remove the mobile authenticator from your account before you send it off, then add the physical authenticator to your account. If you just send off your phone without doing that, you'll be locked out of your account and need to run circles with Blizzard's support/billing department.
The long answer is yes, and follow these exact instructions from Spazmoose. He says:
- Purchase the new authenticator and wait for it to arrive.
- Once it arrives, remove the iPhone authenticator from your account.
- Add the physical authenticator to your account.
- Remove the authenticator from your iPhone.
- Send in your iPhone.
Hal asked...
"Are the Fate Runes (obtained from the Bone Witch) able to be used in the Icecrown dungeons/raid currently?"
When I tried one I randomly had in my bags in the 5-man instance, no, it didn't work. I suspect it will remain that way, considering the various things you can pick up in Storm Peaks can't be used in Ulduar. Blizzard has also tried to minimize how much time you spend grinding outside of a raid in Wrath of the Lich King. Potion limitations, elixir limitations, no random consumables you can get via Herbalism or whatever else. I don't think Blizzard would push you to grind out Vrykul Bones in between every raid.
Joe asked...
"On the walls in ToC, there are 2 Horde emblems on the Horde side, and 2 Alliance emblems on the Alliance side, which makes sense. But, if you look on the left hand side of the Alliance emblem, you will see 12 hash marks on it, like they were counting kills or something along those lines... any idea what these 12 hash marks actually stand for?"
It's just a generic kill tally. The Alliance emblem is the level 60 PvP shield, the Grand Marshal's Aegis, scaled up to be a wall decoration. The hash marks are just part of the design, the Grand Marshal etching his kills into the most notable part of his equipment.
UnderwoodLynch asked...
"What music, if any, does the WoW.com team listen to while raiding?"
I can't speak for the entire team, but I personally listen to something instrumental. Soothing. Right now my playlist consists of select tracks from Mass Effect, because I just played through the game again and I'm sort of addicted to the universe for the moment. Calming, instrumental stuff keeps my nerves cool and doesn't interfere with listening to Ventrilo and battle cues and all of that sort of thing. Listening to metal (or J-Pop if you're in that sort of mood) makes listening to the finer details of raiding pretty difficult.
How about you guys, dear readers? What's your raiding soundtrack?

In the group that I raid with, before a boss fight that we're not sure we'll live through, we listen to In the Air tonight by Phil Collins. We wait until the drum solo to pull the boss. It's just a fun thing that we do :)

You should check out the Holly McNarland cover of it... One of the most haunting songs I've ever heard.

An older guild I was in used to start every boss attempt by playing a clip from the 300.
"Spartans! What is your profession?"
"Ha ooh! Ha ooh! Ha ooh!"
That aside I really love the game music that Blizzard has produced. So I leave that on.

We play the safety dance before the first pull of every raid.
I listen to the halo soundtracks.
They make the raid feel so much more.......
EPIC

I usually play Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA".

Fallout 3 soundtrack- nothing better to keep away the tension of healing endgame than Billie Holiday, The Ink Spots, and Bob Crosby :D

My favorite artist to listen to when I'm raiding is Ventrilo.

I'm one of those self-admittedly odd people who doesn't usually like music blaring in the background while I'm concentrating or thinking - even music I like. I often (but not always) drive with the radio off, and at work I've been asked a few times why I never turn on the radio. I just work better without the distractions. On a personal level I don't get how people can have music on all the time, but I've realized I'm a minority and I'm okay with that. Nothing wrong with them, nothing wrong with me.
WoW is just another one of those things where I don't need a soundtrack in the background. I always find it odd when someone keys Ventrilo and I hear music loudly in the background.

Yep, with classic tracks like "is there a feast somewhere", "i forgot to repair", and "pull the damn boss already".
Alanid Oct 20th 2009 4:32PM
When raiding I also turn the music down. In 5-man's and regular playing however I listen to a nice mix of Rob Dougan, Hans Zimmer, Alice in Chains, MUSE, Frank Kelpacki, and the Halo 3 + Halo 3 ODST Soundtrack's

@Pemberton: I'm like you. I don't like to have music on if I'm doing something else; if I listen to music I devote myself to that alone, and dislike music and see it as nothing but a distraction when it's incidental to my task at hand. I can't stand having music playing (other than the ingame music) when I'm playing WoW. I don't listen to music while I'm studying or reading either.
My boyfriend on the other hand, likes to have music blaring all times of the day, when playing WoW, when browsing the net, all the time it's on. Aaargh! While I don't mind that he likes doing that per se, I just don't like that it means I end up having to listen to it anyway.
I studied music all the way through school and can play several instruments, and I love music in appropriate venues (concerts, clubs, parties, car stereos, iPods while running, working out, etc) but it's like a beehive in my ear when I'm trying to do something more cerebral.

I don't like to blare my music, period; I like it at a nice, low, enjoyable level. Even at that level I tend to get a headache if I listen too much.
Darky Oct 21st 2009 8:42AM
Oh sure vent is a given but I cant concentrate without a healthy dosage of Tool.
breaklance Oct 20th 2009 3:11PM
The music from Mass Effect is awesome in general. Just saying.
Xaverius Oct 20th 2009 3:14PM
I don't usually listen to music while raiding - but if I'm grinding, farming, or leveling I usually listen to the Halo soundtrack.
Wulf Oct 20th 2009 3:25PM
Same.... I have all the Halo albums set up in their own playlist (Halo, Halo 2 D1 & D2, Halo 3 D1 & D2, ODST D1 & D2). If I'm looking for a little more variety, I add my whole gaming directory which includes soundtracks from Age of Conan, Mass Effect, All 3 WoW iterations, Diablo II, Dead Space, etc...
I collect collector's editions of games... If it's been released in the past 10 years or so, and had a special edition with a soundtrack, or has exceptional music on a separately-released OST, it's likely been ripped into that folder.
Draelan Oct 20th 2009 3:16PM
I like to listen to the soothing sounds of.... whatever the background music for the raid happens to be. >.>
Honestly? I don't listen to music while raiding. I'm too busy paying attention to Vent and the battle itself.
