PTR shut down tonight. This could be a one-off or it could mean that 3.3 will be out tomorrow/next week (most likely next week if anything).
Though, if this is true I'd find it far too early for it to be released. I don't think it's been long enough, and I don't think every part has been tested properly (by players at least, but Blizzard will no doubt test it themselves too).

"I don't think it's been long enough"
It's never long enough. Blizzard has been refining this game for 5+ years now. Wow is a work in progress that has stable versions available for play. PTR builds are beta builds so refined they are about to go live.
I expect 3.3 to go live today.

I think it'll be awesome if it does, but I won't be surprised if it doesn't.

We don't even have half of the T10 models, the IC raid hasn't been tested yet...
What planet are you on?

No need to troll. I am sure the IC raids have been tested by internal Blizzard DEVs plenty of times. What you see on the PTR is just getting polished by the community.
Stay classy Agerath.

When you see maintenance being scheduled for 3AM-11AM rather than the usual 5AM-11AM Pacific then you'll know the patch is coming out. They usually will announce extended maintenance for some other reasons if it isn't a patch and a few days before Tuesday.

The problem lies in that we never had to have some pre-downloader thing. As Psiwave notes three comments below mine.
Since this is adding entirely new content I have very little doubts that the patch will be at least a few hundred megs in size (it does contain new gear and zones, after all), much like 3.2 was before it.
This isn't some tiny little minor patch with things to tweak classes and fix bugs but a content patch. It changes the way some class abilities work (nerfs/buffs, etc), it fixes bugs, and as I just said: adds new content (Icecrown Citadel).
Just because this is patch 3.3, possibly the last major content patch before Cataclysm, and a patch with the Lich King in it as a killable boss, doesn't mean they'd just stop letting us use the Background Downloader to download it before it's released.

@Skonged:
Yeah, because everyone who points out the gaping flaws in your logic is automatically a troll.
Good job!

@Agerath
If it quacks like a duck....
So what your saying is Blizzard DEVs only use the PTR to develop on? I would think Blizzard uses a DEV sandbox server to test things out before they hit the PTR. Does all this really sound like gaping holes in logic to you?

Not entirely true. All the art, models, and textures already exist in game for the remaining content of 3.3. I can see 3.3 coming in at 50+ megs but not too much more. If the patch is going to be huge I expect it to have Catalyst content buried in there.

Idk, maybe they'll wait until the end of the holiday, maybe.
Psiwave Oct 20th 2009 11:13AM
I wouldn't have thought it likely, we havnt even had the predownload yet (unless I somehow missed it)
Mr. Tastix Oct 20th 2009 11:31AM
Hm, good point. No, we haven't. Totally crossed my mind.

Test realms are back up.

i have an idea.. instead of prasing WoW and sucking so much blizzard asshole like so many wow players do.. why not do a story or even better start a movement on the HORRIBLE customer service and the fact that blizzard does not give 2 shits in a well about the wow players in general..? maybe just maybe if the community stood up to blizzard they would stop fucking us in the anus without using lube
Mr. Tastix Oct 20th 2009 1:24PM
Cool story bro.
If you hate it so much fuck off and quit playing.
sprout_daddy Oct 20th 2009 1:24PM
Well, it's hard not to agree with a comment this tasteful (/end sarcasm)
The thing I really enjoy about this type of comment is the complete lack of context. In what way don't they care? What have they done that's annoyed you so much. I've had nothing but positive experiences with Blizzard customer service - characters restored, technical issues addressed, hack issues resolved - but maybe my experience is unique and yours is more common, but it's hard to figure out what your problem with Blizzard is when you don't give any specifics.
It's kind of hard to "start a movement" if you don't have anything to base it on other than angst-ridden ramblings (although perhaps you're following the WTO protest model).

Heard a rumor that some of the requirements for the Brewfest title have been removed in the PTR. Is this true? Might see a lot of us getting retroactive titles when it drops, if so.
