Yes, Backstab should absolutely be used as an opener. Also, use Evasion whenever it's available? Because having it "ready" is a waste? That's silly. Why blow it on a single mob, only to have it on cooldown when you really need it one minute later? Always save it for emergencies or difficult fights.
