On my rogues, until I get Ambush, my opening rotation is Stealth, Sap (if possible), Pickpocket (again if possible), Backstab, Sinister Strike, Eviscerate.

Ambush replaces Backstab here.

While fighting I will gouge and then backstab, up until I start using poisons, which usually breaks the gouge.

Once I start using poisons, the only time I use backstab is if I am partied with someone and the creature/NPC/opposite faction player we are fighting is focused on my party member and I can get behind.
