Patch 3.3 PTR: The Sacred and the Corrupt video

World of Raids has unveiled an extremely spoiler-filled video of the first quest to obtain the legendary axe, Shadowmourne. The quest, called The Sacred and the Corrupt, is active on the PTR but cannot be completed as it requires items obtained from Icecrown Citadel. The sweet-looking axe (shown above as data-mined by MMO Champion) is an upgrade from an identical but less spooky and icy-glowy epic axe called Shadow's Edge. The six minute video is pretty cool and epic, with the setting eerily reminiscent for players who played the Human campaign in Warcraft III: ~~The Frozen Throne~~ The Reign of Chaos (thanks, Skeeran! Shame on me!). Nothing much to say, really, other than hit the jump to see the video. Oh, and in case I haven't made it clear... it's kind of spoiler-ish.

Any details on the Ax other than what it looks like? Is it 1h or 2h? What class is it mainly for? I am a hunter who uses both axes and swords and I think that is pretty sweet looking. Be awesome if it had plus Agi or Plus Hit!

It's a 2H axe, useful for all wielders of 2H axes, but tailored for the plate classes. Hope it's a good option for DK tanks.

Why is my comment being down rated?
It is a valid post, that is on top, and directly rated. Is it because people need to flex their uber cyber finger muscles and the only gratification is by down rating others?

IMHO some people need to get a life.

i assume u got downrated because you are a typical huntard loathing for a weapon that is ultimately a stat-stick for you, yes we know all hunters can use pretty much every weapon 1h or 2h but those weapons are much more useful and beneficial for a class that actually hits things with them.......unless your a melee hunter which i heard was a really viable spec...

Back in vanilla WoW I was an off tank as a melee hunter a few times when we fought the Tiger boss in ZG and did quite well.

Needless to say though, I was popping potions, had a healer spamming me, and ALWAYS ended up dying at the 2-5% marker.

Dead up true story =D

The first time it was a gimmick thing. We were bored and wanted to do something goofy. After it worked halfway well we did it any other times we felt like bumping up the difficulty a bit :D

Most people hate hunters first, DK second. I see all classes wearing the wrong stats, warriors wearing cloth, locks using their succubus as tank, rogues with spirit, healers with hit gems, pallys tanking with 2handers, casters with no water and begging in dungeons for it, naked people in BGs, and all of that just this week.

That was Blood Elves. I think you mean the Human campaign in RoC or the Undead campaign in TFT.

Just being nitpicky. ;) And can't actually watch the video due to youtube being blocked on this network... >:| It might BE about Blood Elves for all I know...

Nope your right, for those of you who have their net blocked ***to put it simply*** its a lot like the scene where arthas first takes up the frostmorne, along with aotd spam lots of interruptions (think mining titanium in winter grasp whilst a battle is on) and an elite kill.

Also is the absolute need for CC a sign for a way of raiding coming back in ICC?

Did a hunter just say they will roll on this?!

I will never allow a hunter to roll on this weapon. I really do hate you hunters, it is a stat stick for you, nothing more.

WAR/DK/PALLY, that is all I want to see rolling on this axe.

If a Hunter were ever to get this weapon, it will only be if they did the work themselves...the other Warriors, DKs, and Paladins got the item to start it with, and the Hunter will be last...just like Warriors and Rogues are last with ranged weapons.

If the stats are Hunter-y goodness, or the proc works with ranged weapons for some reason, then yeah, Hunters have a use for it. Should they get it first? As a raiding Hunter, I say hell no.
