Patch 3.3 PTR: New and updated achievements on the PTR

There's been a few achievements that have been added in the latest patch 3.3 build.
- As you can guess, taking down the Lich King has its rewards. If you manage to defeat Arthas in Icecrown Citadel in 10-player heroic mode, you will henceforth earn the title "Bane of the Fallen King."
- A new faction for you to earn reputation with will be established as well. The Ashen Verdict, if you manage to earn exalted with them, will grant you a title reward that adds "Of the Ashen Verdict." No serious details yet on how to grind out rep, but when I was on the PTR clearing trash to Festergut, I noticed I was gaining Ashen Verdict reputation by killing various mobs. They're similar to the rates players earned rep with when working through Black Temple for the Ashtongue.
- Arena players have a new title and a Frostwyrm pet to look forward to for season 8. Good luck on earning the Wrathful Gladiator title!
- The players who are more into battlegrounds will be experiencing change as well. The achievements to gain exalted with Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, and Alterac Valley factions have been removed from their Meta-Achievements. You'll gain special titles if you manage to reach exalted with the factions at least.
- Glory of the Hero Meta-Achievement has been slightly changed. The Party's Over achievement which involves killing Prince Taldaram on Heroic with under 5 people is no longer part of that particular meta. Although, personally I don't think it's that difficult to take out that boss with 4 players.
- Lastly, in case you missed the news earlier, Master Angler of Stranglethorn has been changed. It will be changed to Master Angler of Azeroth instead. You can gain this achievement by winning the Kalu'ak Fishing Derby or the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza.
Patch 3.3 is the last major patch of Wrath of the Lich King. With the new Icecrown Citadel 5-man dungeons and 10/25-man raid arriving soon, patch 3.3 will deal the final blow to the Arthas. WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.3 will keep you updated with all the latest patch news.Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, News items, Achievements

Something I dont get, we are already getting the last major content patch? What exactly do they plan on doing over the next year then, Another Sunwell? They stated at the start of this expansion that they wanted to release content overtime at a slower pace this time around because they did not.. geuss what.. want another "Sunwell". Blizzard gtfo

Looking at the past patches, raids usually get released 6 months apart, give or take. My guess is yes, there will be another Sunwell type deal. I think we will see 3.3 in December or January. After 3.3, a couple of smaller patches, then in Late May or June, we will indeed see a 3.4 patch with a new raid that will somehow tie into the next expansion. That is my guess.

I'm pretty sure that in late May or June Cataclysm will be REALLY close to being out, if not already out.

Blizzard have said many times there will be no patch 3.4. The next patch after 3.3 will be 4.0. Assuming that 3.3 is released in December we can expect to see 4.0 some time around next April or May, and Catacylsm perhaps a month or so after that.

Given how the new LFG system works, putting you into the dungeon once you have five people in the group, The Party's Over wouldn't be practical in some cases. I don't think it's about difficulty.

"Although, personally I don't think it's that difficult to take out that boss with 4 players."
The problem was either doing the instance with 4 players or telling someone to sit out not the difficulty.
Nathanyel Oct 24th 2009 4:01AM
Exactly, it was apparently the "you can't do all achievements in one run (except the ones that require more than one run anyway)"-issue - not that there are many groups of 5 people who do that, slash where everyone needs the same achievements.
Nathanyel Oct 24th 2009 4:06AM
Well, it wouldn't be the first "late change/improvement that no one needs anymore" they did...
themightysven Oct 24th 2009 11:44AM
also with the new LFG interface, you'll randomly get assigned to A'K then not be able to do the achievement cause your group is full

Yep, it was not a hard achievement at all. There's no way THIS is the achievement preventing you from getting Glory of the Hero. If you can do the Voids, the speed Oculus run, Less-rabit, speed Anub, speed Volazj and Watch Him Die (among others), then the Party's Over is not a problem. It's just annoying and weird. It's the sole achievement in the whole long list of Heroic achievements that forces you to drop someone from the group. It was unnecessary and annoying, but far from hard.

Looking forward to seeing what the BG titles will be.

Holy awesome! I am still probably going to work to get exalted with warsong outriders and defilers but its nice that i can take my time with it now instead of struggling to get battlemaster. Just means I have to grind out the last of my warsong and arathi basin victories and i'm solid

I miss the times when titles were rare and special.
Possum Oct 24th 2009 5:12AM
I don't, titles add customization. There should be more you can choose from the start IMO. If it's about the size of your epeen there are other ways to show that off better.
Skem Oct 24th 2009 5:51AM
While I do miss titles being rare, I think the level of customisation is fasinating. Looking around at what titles people are showing or (not showing), especially your friends and guildies, may give an insight that you didnt' have before.
On a side note, I think its an excelent idea to give those that get exalted with the PvP factions a title- for some classes these are a much harder grind then others.
Muse Oct 24th 2009 7:50AM
I don't. But sometimes I wonder if they shouldn't be exclusive, though. "You can have one and only one. You can replace the one you have when you get a new, but can't keep the old one." That was the general misunderstanding about titles around when "Of the Shattered Sun" first started becoming commonplace.
Shardrell Oct 24th 2009 9:31AM
I don't. I like seeing everyone with different titles. I use them as a way to show off my characters' personalities. There are still rare and difficult titles for those who like to show off, after all. F'rinstance, on the rare occasion that I see a "Salty", I know I've met somebody with an insane dedication to fishing. :)
Kia Oct 24th 2009 9:46AM
There are plenty rare titles, don't get your panties in a wad. If I see someone with Starcaller or Herald of the Titans, etc, you're damn right I'm going to be more impressed than seeing "the Noble" or "Jenkins" on someone.
Tumleren Oct 24th 2009 5:40AM
Wrathful Gladiator? Really? :/
