Gameplay...gameplay...gameplay! It was the smooth style of zones, quests, raids and the fact that it can be played on a run-of-the-mill PC that caused the initial boom. Five years ago Sony Online's EQ was the MMO leader, but it was full of small zones with seemingly constant zoning and very few quests. It didn't take long for entire guilds and two-thirds of the EQ population to migrate. As for a game that could replace WoW, I would put my money on the NextGen MMO Blizz is working on.
