question about the need>greed/DE
im a dual spec paladin tank and dps
if i dps a pug and a shied drops that is an upgrade for me
but isnt an upgrade for the tank can i need it?
if i have to greed that means the DEers are guna have a chance to get it
aswell ad the rest of the group if they greeds...
someone please tell me i can need it two
on the other hand what if i tank and a shield drops that i need
but a dual spec dps/tank who is dpsing also needs it do i get to need it over him cos im tanking?
it seems this new need/greed/DE system is ott and needs ot be simpler

i dont think it makes spec distinctions
so a bear druid can roll on tree gear, or a holy pally can roll on prot gear
your making this alot more complicated than it is

well if holy paladins can roll on tank gear and bear tanks can roll on resto gear
ur still guna have ninja looting...
people will just need because they can even if its not their primary or even secondary spec
the system doesnt really solve anything

Exactly.
The new updated rule does limit the ninja-ing to where Plate wearers can't ninja anything but plate, and also applies to Mail, Leather, and Cloth. It also limits Warriors and Rogues from ninja-ing any item with spellpower (I'm not sure how Blizz would classify Hunters here in being a "pure melee" class even if they should not be rolling on spellpower gear).
There are a lot of holes that these rules don't cover, including pure spell power classes like Mages, Priests, and Warlocks (although a quick glance in Lock history shows Blizz might have wanted locks to melee for some odd reason, cf. original Firestone) who can roll Need on any pure melee weapon that they can equip. Say for example the Peacekeeper Blade dropped from TotC, a mage can happily NEED roll and compete against a warrior tank. Sorry, but the rules just don't apply in this case.

You have to need anything you want. There will be no more "roll greed for off-spec". Greed=Disenchant in the roll priority. Once it is disenchanted I assume it is gone for good. Being able to trade BOP items was a great idea. The disenchant button will ensure that a lot of armor that ended up being used for off-spec with the old system, now will be instantly destroyed.
