Breakfast Topic: Race Change, your personal retcon

I still want to change my character's race, I'm just not quite settled on which one to switch to. Race change is kind of like a retcon in the World of Warcraft, more so than name changes or customization of appearance. It's right up there with gender changes. Faction changes are different because it kind of take away your character's entire continuity, and I'm sure a lot of RP'ers made completely different back-stories for faction-changed characters. Race change allows you to have essentially the same character but with a major difference.
We asked what race you'd switch to about a month back, but now that the service is here, we're going to ask who's up and done the change? What race did you switch from and what race did you switch to? Tell us why! Personally, I'm just kind of bored with another Blood Elf, and I want one of each race (I know, I should've thought of that to begin with). Lame, right? On the other hand, I'm holding out for that Undead Hunter I've always wanted. Now that World of Warcraft's personal retcon is a paid service, have you taken advantage of it? Have you changed anything else besides your race such as gender or name?

I race changed from Troll to UD AND changed his name.
I did it because, while I still love trolls (my shaman and hunter are both trolls :D ), I just didn't really like being a Troll DK :p
I'm kind of regretting the name change though, wish I kept at least that to remember my old troll by :(

I would make my troll undead if I could, and my guildies/monies would allow me.
Which neither of em does :(

Why does your guild have any say in what race you play? They shouldn't.
Fornozo Oct 28th 2009 8:22AM
I got girl players in my guild quite attached to the troll race.
It's not from a gameplay stand point :)
Nadia Oct 28th 2009 8:29AM
If the girl likes you for you, she won't care which race you play.

that's just...weird

As soon as I saw the add yesterday I bounced over and got my race change on my main character. For some reason I fail to remember I rolled a draenei hunter over two years ago and as my guildies can attest...I hate looking at her. The tentacles on her neck skeeve me out. Her hooves stuck out at odd angles on any mount.
After I paid for my race change and did a little happy dance I sat down to consider my choices. Night Elf or Dwarf. While I loved the racials on the Night Elves I didn't want to have yet another Night Elf hunter to join the masses. So I went the unusual route and picked a female dwarf. This will do until next year sometime when I switch again to human but now I no longer have to hate the poor choice I made back when I was new. No more horns or creepy tentacles. Now I have a beer swilling, brass ball joking dwarf and I'm satisfied.
I'm sure my guildmates and friends will be happy to finally hear the end of my complaining about hating the looks of my main.

Nice, go the female dwarves! I've got one of each class excluding warrior, they're the best! And when Cataclysm hits, i'll make my dwarf female shaman and mage, and i'll be happy.

Pretty much the same story. I rolled a night elf rogue when I first started playing, so I could quest with a few co-workers who were also just starting out. Didn't know at the time that I could roll another race and make the long trek to Darnassus, instead.
Long story short, I hated the race. One co-worker jumped servers to join a hardcore raiding guild, and the other doesn't play anymore. I had nothing binding me to Night Elves anymore, but I had invested far too much gold/time/achievements/etc to simply re-roll.
Saw the race change go live yesterday, and immediately "re-rolled" Dwarf. And couldn't be happier.

Yay!! Female Dwarfs are the bestest. I have many, including two, yes, two Dwarf hunters at cap. It will be hard, but one of them is gonna become a Human in due time, in keeping with my desire for a hunter of every race on one server.

Yes! I rolled a NE rogue a while back and am so tired of all her horrible commonness. Female dwarf rogue ftw

I'm personally not considering it on any of my characters. I spend a long time considering race when i pick a new alt to play. I'm sure that sounds nerdy, but appearance, lore and the "feel" of my characters mean a lot to me, so I'm always certain that that character is right when i click the Create button.

Same here. It can almost be a stressful experience for me lol. If a character doesn’t feel especially awesome to me after he first few levels, I more or less just abandon them. Therefore I have a lot of level 10 alts hanging around but nothing that would be worth spending 25 bucks to change.
I will say I did however change a night elf priest to a priestess when that service came out. It just felt more appropriate and in line with the lore.

I was planning on changing my Blood Elf rogue to an Undead. But now that I can, I am really having a hard time with it. I mean, I leveled that Belf from 1 - 80, and it would sort of take away from that. I choose belf when BC came out to see the new starting zone, and now I just can't bring myself to ruin all that my Blood Elf has accomplished.

And now that I found this on the 3.3 PTR patch notes...I have no reason to switch:
"Will of the Forsaken now shares a 45-second cooldown with similar effects, including the Medallion of the Horde, Titan-Forged runes, Insignia of the Horde, etc."
Darky Oct 28th 2009 8:18AM
i just want arcane torrent, so tempted to go belf for that sole reason

Gnomes! More gnomes!

BLOOD AND THUNDER! My tauren's War Stomp didn't seem to make any dent on the noams, so I expect my raging Blood Fury to aid me in that regard! LOK'TAR OGAR!
