i recently took a rogue from 1 to 72 - what a fun and fast experience. Sadly, I'm trying to commit to only one or two characters, and compared to my pally and, sadly, even my priest, my rogue feels so squishy. I know I suck at quick hand-eye movements, so it's likely my fault, but I'm a little saddened by the fact that I can't play him to his max, as it is an extremely fun and involved class - rarely have I felt so involved in the process.

Rogue, squishy? You're definitely missing something in your approach and/or rotation. Comparing a rogue to a pally, well, any other class would be deemed as 'squishy'.

One thing I did (actually at about the same level as you) is switch over to the Assasination Tree. Open with cheap shot, then Mutilate. When cheap shot runs out, kidney shot. Then two Mutilates, and either Eviscerate or Envenom to finish things off, and your average mob is dead, without ever having hit you (or maybe just a few hits in the end). It made leveling a lot simpler when I figured this out, because I didn't take a lot of damage while I was running around. The one thing that totally sucked about Assasination spec was there was no efficient way of killing multiple mobs. You can sap one, or if you pull two accidentally, blind one, but really it doesn't compare to Blade Flurry + Killing Spree.

I also recently leveled a rogue from 1-72 (just dinged 72 yesterday). This is the 2nd rogue I've leveled (first one to 80, then gave him to my Brother). I leveled the first rogue as Combat Swords. I've now leveled every class to 70+ and tried every spec for at least a few levels. So it is with great confidence that i tell you LEVELING COMBAT IS THE MOST BORING CLASS COMBO TO LEVEL. Also I can also tell you, Leveling Subtelty (from 11-68) is one of the most FUN class combo to level. There are a few tricks though to make it fun/efficient. First off is Glyphs. Get the Ambush Glyph for major, and the Pick Pocket for minor. Even though they technically have no DPS boost, they will GREATLY improve your leveling experience. Secondly is Weapon Choice. When you mentioned Sub, you talked about either using daggers (Ambush), or a Slow Main hand (Hemorrhage). But there is a 3rd, and much better choice... Do them both! Carry a nice Slow Dagger AND a nice Slow Sword/Axe/Mace/Fist. How does this work? Well this is where the third tip comes in...MACROS. I know they can be scary, and maybe if this is your first toon they may be overwhelming. But as far as rogues are concerned, "Macros are our Friends." The Ambush/Hem leveling Build works off of two main macros.First is your Ambush macro. Basically you set up the macro to first of all Equip your Dagger in your main hand, then Pick pocket (it doesn't use a GCD), Use any non stealth-breaking Racials (Blood Fury if you are an Orc), then Ambush. If you don't have the dagger curently in your main hand, it will require you to push it twice. #showtooltip Ambush/equipslot 16 "Your Dagger's Name Here"/cast pick pocket/cast premeditation/cast blood fury /cast ambush Then you have your Hemorrhage Macro. First, out of convienence i have it startattack which is very helpful for switching targets quickly (if you just killed your target, you can press this macro and it will start auto attacking the nearest hostile target), then pop your trinkets, then equip your Slow 1Hand Sword, then use Hem. If you don't already have your 1H sword equipped it will take two presses. #showtooltip Hemorrhage/startattack/use 13/use 14/equipslot 16 "Your Sword's Name Here"/cast HemorrhageOnce you get Preparation, I recommend adding in this Macro:#showtooltip Eviscerate/startattack/use 13/use 14/cast Eviscerate/equipslot 16 "Your Sword's Name Here"Once you get Premeditation (+Initiative or HaT) After your ambush you will have 4-5 Combo points Already! So I used this 3rd macro Right after my Ambush. I added in the equip Sword so that right after the Eviscerate i can start bashing the Hem macro without having to press it twice. And since the switch is after the Evis, it doesn't prevent the Evis even if i currently have my dagger in my main hand. So the End product look like thisPick PocketAmbushEviscerateHemorrhage till deadLootStealthStart overUntil the mid 60's with decent gear (Heirlooms if you have them) you will 2-3 Shot most mobs, and make some people very frustrated in BG's. Really though, what makes this spec so fun is the utility. Vanish/Blind are almost always up, if not, Prep probably is. Quick Stealth walking speed. Improved stealth (don't have to worry about being seen). Imp sap. All of the Rogue "Specialties" are at your disposal. /end Text Wall :P
