Maintenance for Tuesday November 3rd

We need to be diligent here and note that there is absolutely no indication patch 3.3 will drop tomorrow. That event is still at least a few weeks off from all indications coming into WoW.com HQ.
Enjoy the downtime if you're not working -- go get some sun, eat a cheeseburger, do something off the game. It'll be leveling up in real life! Fun!

Patch 3.3 goes live on/near 5th anniversary day, to mark the occasion?
Just a thought...
Aerodin Nov 2nd 2009 10:56PM
Patch won't be next week. They still have an instance to test, a few more bosses to test and they haven't even released Shaman T10!!
Early/mid December will be 3.3

I just can't work out why Blizzard can't do server maintainence on Oceanic server's during our off-peak time. This would be during normal working hours in America. Is it really that hard to take 10 servers off the regular maintainence list and do it during normal daylight hours ??
Fallen Nov 2nd 2009 10:42PM
Such thoughts are mutiny! lol
Adam Nov 2nd 2009 11:37PM
That would require giving Oceanic customers something other than lip service
Darky Nov 3rd 2009 3:11AM
Guh 8pm at oceanic servers =_= that's pretty much when I play the most.
Merus Nov 3rd 2009 7:17AM
It looks like all the servers on a battlegroup share a cluster (which is why they can do cross-realm PvP and now dungeons - the cross-realm instances are on their own computer that every server on the battlegroup uses).
Considering the Oceanic servers are scattered amongst battlegroups, they clearly can't. If they shut down a battlegroup for maintenance, they have to take down an Oceanic server. I guess they've decided that the development overhead to move Oceania servers into their own battlegroup during maintenance isn't worth the effort - and even then they'd have to shut down anything tied to the old battlegroup, and bring down the servers during prime time to cut it across to the maintenance servers.
(This is why, when there are rolling restarts, Oceanic server resets are at a much later time. They don't need to shut down the entire battlegroup, and so they're able to throw Oceanic players a bone.)
The Claw Nov 3rd 2009 7:33AM
Oceanic servers shut down at a different time = every Tuesday primetime, Oceanic servers flooded by dickheads who can't play on their own server so go and troll somewhere else.
Bloomindraal Nov 4th 2009 1:57AM
@The Claw - How would you feel paying more for less playtime - because if you are an Oceanic server that exactly what you are doing. - FYI I posed a legtimate question - you are the tard that came in and started trolling - L2forum post noob !
Given that Oceanic servers have had to deal with this since they first came up, how bout they put the shoe on the other foot and schedule ALL maintainence for Tuesday evenings on the US time?
Now I realise Blizzard will never do this as it would upset a majority of its player's. But if they moved all the Oceanic servers to the same battlegroup (which in itself isn't such a bad idea) then they could have that battlegroup shutdown during our off-peak time.
Will this result in some player's coming over from US timezone servers - sure, but if it means I get to play on Tuesday then I dont really care.

I was going to make some comment on how the earlier-than-usual maintenance means I can't get my jousting over with early in the morning before work... then it hit me that I've clearly been playing this game way, way too much if I'm upset about not being able to joust before work. @_@ ...I'm going to look at this maintenance as a good thing.
Besides, I can always joust after work. Eh heh heh.
Aerodin Nov 2nd 2009 10:55PM
Try to go and watch Medieval Times jousting after playing WoW.
None of em use Shield Breaker..

Said in story:"there is absolutely no indication patch 3.3 will drop tomorrow"
Inferred in story: "But we're totally going to throw that in the article, just so you all can speculate on the arrival date for each and every story for the next few weeks."
Hooch is Craaazey Nov 3rd 2009 5:40AM
I'm gonna go right out and say that it will drop tonight cause ya know, Blizzard like to live a little, who cares if the patch will be unfinished, we're getting a pony!
Roddythew Nov 3rd 2009 7:56AM
Well, maintenance started unusually early this week, so I wouldn't be surprised if the patch dropped today.
